Time to let it fly. -

I continue to believe that moving forward playing power complimentary football is the way for this team to succeed long term. But not this year.
So, I’d turn it over to McKee. Go up tempo. Play 4 receivers one back. Go empty backfield. Up tempo. No huddle. Throw it 50 times. Why not.
Defensively I’d blitz and stunt like mad. From every angle possible. Safety blitzes, corner blitzes. Max blitzes. Run blitzes. Constantly. Every. Frigging . Play.
They have proven they can’t play straight up. So what the hell. Change it up. Go crazy. Have some fun. They may lose big at times. But they may surprise once or twice.

Well, we've proven we can't block anyone, so the offense you suggest will likely be equally successful to what we're doing. And if one of our safeties ever makes a play it will be the first time.

on our offense
the offense has now scored 13 or fewer points in three of eight games.....
in 2006 we scored 13 or fewer points in nine of 12 games so even if we score 13 or less in the last four games it won't be quite as bad as 2006.....
hopefully we get some WRs back this week...

Yeah, without more top WRs, going 4 wide might not help much. =/

[bitter sarcasm font] lex, your blasphemous plan would require making in-season changes based on empirical evidence of what is and is not working. Based on several years of NFL assistant coaching experience, a decade and a half ago, we know that kind of crazy-talk is bush league hokum for lesser coaches. If you know a play or system works well on the chalkboard, stick with it at all costs! If it fails, just keep doing it over and over and over and over until you get it right. Must be poor execution, so the more practice the better. Run the draw to set up the draw. If you pick up 24 yards every time you throw it to a lippy young tight end, then there's no point in running that play again -- you've got that one down, so the time is better spent working on that draw. And, for sure, on third and short in the red-zone, never press the wide receivers -- give them a 15 yard cushion on 3rd and 1 and hope they drop the ball from the anxiety of being so alone on the field. It's basic coaching 101. Had you been an assistant coach in the NFL during Y2K, you'd know that. [/bitter sarcasm font]
