poll from the AD on UW game day experience - 82lsju - 11-02-2021
anyone else get the poll?
Most of it was about vax check-in process and concessions but the last question (at least mine) was a tell us anything else about your gameday experience question, I told them that the decline in the performance of the team over the last four years has been discouraging and significant, the UW game was almost unwatchable, and that I left at halftime.

Don't know about that - A quick check of TCM's scheduling shows they were playing 1971's "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" starting at 8:00. I'm pretty sure our party enjoyed the game WAY more than an evening home watching that.
It was a fun evening at the stadium, I enjoy evening football and it was a way better day than many a game I saw in the 70s and 80s. For the folks who say they like drama in a game on an earlier thread, the game was decided in the final minute of a back and forth game. Yes, the offense needs improvement, tackling was poor at times and we've forgotten how to stop the run but it was Stanford football, a tight game, and a wonderful evening on the farm with friends.

Yeah, I think the best way to approach Stanford football these days is to enjoy it as a social event and not get too hung up about whether Stanford wins or loses.
Hopefully that won't always be the case.

I essentially said at the end that they were asking inconsequential questions. No matter how pleased I was with their hot-dog-selling skills, it was still a cold, 7:30pm kick-off, on Halloween weekend no less; the music and PA is too much and too obnoxious; endless tv and replay breaks made if feel more like a waiting room than football game; and that none of their questions (or my complaining) would matter much if the team were any good and/or at least more entertaining.
Sorry to vent. Just so disheartening to watch. Who knows, maybe they'll turn it all around this Friday night. Anything's possible, right?

Not exactly the most compelling pitch . . . to potential recruits or putative fans. SMH.

Yeah, I think the best way to approach Stanford football these days is to enjoy it as a social event and not get too hung up about whether Stanford wins or loses.

I enjoy social events on a regular basis. None of them get interrupted by crap football. I am reminded of Mark Twain's alleged observation of golf: "A good walk spoiled." Stanford football: A good party spoiled? I absolute believe, hopefully, that it won't always be case. But it probably will be as long as Shaw stays the course.

My experience... Camera work poor, direction poorer, frame too wide on master shot, audio garbled because "crowd" effects potted up and often drowned out the announcers.
Contrast this with the superior production values of the Mich/MSU game.

Well, to people who can't even enjoy the game as a social event because Stanford is not playing well these days I would suggest a better use of their time might be to stay home and clean out their sock drawer.
