The UCLA beat writer for the LA Times is calling for the end of the Chip Kelly Era.

Forty games into the most expensive experiment in UCLA football history, the evidence is incontrovertible. Kelly is guilty of fleecing the Bruins for $16.7 million since his arrival. You don’t need a degree from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management to know that this is not an acceptable return on investment.

Chip Kelly's recruiting has not been elite either. Pac-12 class rankings (per 247sports):
2018--4th (Oregon 2nd, Stanford 7th)
2019--6th (Oregon 1st, Stanford 3rd)
2020--6th (Oregon 1st, Stanford 3rd)
2021--4th (Oregon 1st, Stanford 7th)
2022 (to date)--4th (Oregon 1st, Stanford 2nd)
UCLA has been very active in the transfer portal, but as best as I can tell the results have been a mixed bag.
Not saying anything that folks on this board don't already know, but Oregon is the only Pac-12 school that is close to elite when it comes to recruiting since 2018. Every class is ranked between 6th and 13th nationally.

Hard to do when the paper considers Stanford so irrelevant that it doesn’t assign a beat reporter. I doubt that Anne Killion ever thinks about Stanford football. And the three idiots on KNBR interview Shaw every week and go over the moon saying what a wonderful human being he is. No chance that there will be criticism there.
How many Bay Area folks actually care about Stanford football? Certainly nobody named Tessier.

Seriously, I'll repeat what I said in another thread: my hypothesis is that no current head coach of a school in the Big 12, Big 10, ACC or SEC will be leaving anytime soon to take a job in the Pac-12. The Pac's utter absence from the modern CFP is just a brobdingnagian "Stay Away" sign for any college coach with options.
So, I think UCLA fans would ultimately be disappointed if they think they can get a big name to replace Chip Kelly.

since there are no current ex usc head coaches available, the fall back could be former usc h-man trophy winers....OJ should be very well rested, FoxSports pair looked bored and would like to back in academia, just to name a few.

Dykes was a horrible hire at Cal. The wrong choice in every way imaginable.
