Cross Country - BobK - 11-18-2021

7AM PST from Florida. Both our Men and Women are in it. Hope for a top 5 for the men hard to tell for the Women. It's on TV ESPNU

RE: Cross Country - Lorcan - 11-18-2021

7am PST on Saturday, Nov. 20th FYI!

RE: Cross Country - Lorcan - 11-20-2021

Good Morning!

Just a reminder that the cross country championships are about to begin here -- you can watch it on ESPNU.

We'll hopefully get to hear about some success for Stanford today.

RE: Cross Country - martyup - 11-20-2021

Looks like great weather for the race.

RE: Cross Country - Lorcan - 11-20-2021

The ESPN blurb gave Colorado credit for winning the Western Regionals, which as we all know actually was captured by Stanford this year. It's disheartening when a casual fan like myself can get the facts better than the media presenting the championship.

RE: Cross Country - FarmTeam - 11-20-2021

Just started a duplicate thread so deleted it!

Disappointing to see that men's expected #4, Thomas Boyden, is still out. That's a big blow. Principe and someone else will really need to step up behind the "Big 3" (Hicks, Robinson, Sprout).

Surprised to see Callum Bolger made the trip. He hasn't run all season, so presumably has been injured. Had a great track season. Wonder if he's running or is the alternate.

Also surprised to see Schumacher made the trip. My guess is that he or Bolger don't run. (8 guys listed, only 7 will run).

Lots of injuries this season. Missing Burke and Boyden and Bolger has really hurt them. It happens. But lots of talent on this roster and still a strong chance at a podium spot.

Go Cardinal!

Really? I had sound turned down and didn't hear that. That's amusing because Colorado isn't even in the Western Region. Presumably meant Pac-12s.

Where do you see that info? Never mind I found it.

It came up on ESPNU when they were showing the race.

RE: Cross Country - FarmTeam - 11-20-2021

Heymach working her way up to the front pack! Go Julia!

RE: Cross Country - Lorcan - 11-20-2021

Stanford sitting in 6th at the 4000M mark, about 80 points behind third placed New Mexico. Podium isn't looking likely -- but Julia Heymach among the lead group at the moment in 11th.

RE: Cross Country - martyup - 11-20-2021

Heymach is a warrior!

Impressive finish by Orten of BYU.

RE: Cross Country - Lorcan - 11-20-2021

Heymach finishes 13th overall, and Stanford is 6th.

NC State just ran away with the title here.

Great race from Heymach.

RE: Cross Country - FarmTeam - 11-20-2021

6th! Given how the season has gone, that's a great result! Unfortunately, big fade by Dudek in the last 1km cost them 5th. Great result for Heymach coming off injury, and good for Lucy Jenks to come in as 2nd girl.

RE: Cross Country - BobK - 11-20-2021

Wow I’m slow. Watching and live stats
Great posts already. Stanford Women ranked 23 just 3 weeks ago finish 6th.
Yes Jenks did great

RE: Cross Country - FarmTeam - 11-20-2021

Actually, big fades by Dudek and Suarez, but great final 1km by Aragon! Just a tough, tough injury-plagued season that saw them ranked as high as #3 or #4 in the pre-season and then were at risk of not even qualifying for NCAA finals. 6th is a great result today.

RE: Cross Country - martyup - 11-20-2021

Some poor gal from Washington collapsed on the final stretch and was actually crawling towards the finish line.  Her body had given up but her mind wouldn't.  Brutal sport.

UPDATE: She finally made it across the line. Gritty.

RE: Cross Country - Lorcan - 11-20-2021

Wow. That's a way to go out on your final run of senior year for Christina Aragon. Just casually picking off 30 runners over the last kilometer.

It's impressive that 5 of Stanford's runners today were freshman.

RE: Cross Country - BobK - 11-20-2021

And 2 of the top 4 in the nation coming in next season

RE: Cross Country - martyup - 11-20-2021

Mens' race underway.  Hicks is in the lead pack.  Team in 8th.

Pace is fast.
