Men's BB: Stanford @ Baylor, Saturday 10 am Pacific, ESPN+/Big 12 Now - Papa John - 11-18-2021
The Stanford men travel to Waco, TX to face the #9 Baylor Bears at 10 am body clock time. ESPN's Matchup Predictor gives Stanford a 12.3% probability of winning which, to be honest, seems a bit high to me.
In any case, Baylor is currently 3-0 with a 27-point win over Incarnate Word, a 29-point win over Nicholls and a 45-point win over Central Arkansas. The Bears will also play ASU and Oregon in the coming weeks, so we'll see how the Pac-12 stacks up against what may be the second-best team in the Big 12 (Texas was picked second in the preseason poll, but Baylor was a close third).
Baylor's team features a number of transfers and, apparently, head coach Scott Drew has it all figured out as he has been able to reload year after year. He has brought the Bears to five Sweet Sixteens, three Elite Eights and, of course, the national championship last spring. So I guess it's safe to say that I'm a bit jealous.
I think the most recent time that the Stanford men faced the defending national champion was in 2017 versus North Carolina. We got stomped at home by 24. I fear a similar result on Saturday, but as always I'm hoping that I'll be pleasantly surprised. I don't get ESPN+ so I won't be able to watch--thank goodness I have The CardBoard to keep me abreast of what's happening!
