WVB at Colorado 6:00pm - Softball Fan - 11-18-2021

Stanford women's volleyball team plays at Colorado 6:00 tonight on PAC-12 Mountain.

"THE SERIES WITH THE BUFFALOES: Stanford is 23-1 all-time versus
Colorado and has won 10 in a row over the Buffaloes. The Cardinal
swept Colorado at Maples Pavilion in October. Caitie Baird led Stanford
with 14 kills on .414 hitting, while Kendall Kipp added 13 kills and Sami
Francis chipped in with 12. Colorado's lone win came on Oct. 18, 2015
in Boulder."

Colorado Conference Record: 5-11. Colorado is out of contention for the NCAA tournament. Do they still have motivation to put forth their best effort?

Prediction: If Miner plays Stanford wins.

Lose 3rd set 26 24 after being ahead most of set
Stanford wins 4th set 25 21.

RE: WVB at Colorado 6:00pm - BobK - 11-18-2021

A Stanford win in 4 sets. Stanford had 95% of serves in.

Yay, we beat the team in 10th place in the PAC-12.  Their best OH is not available and their best MB is injured but I'll take the win.

Xu is not in uniform and apparently still injured.  Xu seems to be injury prone.   If Kalissa Greene would have stuck it out she would be the defacto second team setter.  I believe she was the #22 senior ace which means she was probably ranked the second or third best setter in her class.

Stanford has secured a winning season.

As mentioned on VT, Kalissa Greene is in the transfer portal.

To my knowledge only three players in program history left before getting their Stanford degree.

24 years ago a freshman got homesick and moved back to her parents house in Michigan.

Logan Tom left to play for the National Team and professionally.

Now Greene.  She knew Xu was here and Miner was in the 2021 class so I don't understand her decision making process if court time was a high priority.

RE: WVB at Colorado 6:00pm - johnbar - 11-19-2021

And Logan Tom eventually came back and finished her degree.
I don't remember the freshman who left in 1997(?). (Right when I moved back to the Bay Area.)

From comments on VT, it seems Greene made a late switch from Princeton to Stanford.
Maybe that was a wrong decision.  Change of mind now might have nothing to do with playing time, but something else is not clicking for her.
Choosing a college can be tricky even without athletics to consider.
