What number of points would you need to see Stanford get to feel confident betting on Stanford?
I wouldn't take 38. I MIGHT take 41. I fully expect Notre Dame to open at least -38.

I expect Domers to drop 60 on Shaw.

Only lose 2-0 through forfeit.

Next year could be worse, play the same in conference teams plus the domers at their place, BYU and Colgate. Could rival Walt's last year. Colgate could be Shaw's UC Davis.

Wow, Stanford's 'defense' has been giving up 16 points per play lately, so interesting spread.
Brian Kelly doesn't seem the type to run up the score on Shaw though. The two of them have a lot in common I'd say. Kelly is just slightly better at making necessary changes (or being forced into it), and has more institutional support. I bet Kelly's results would look a lot like Shaw's if he were at Stanford.

Evidence suggests that Kelly is dramatically better than Shaw at making changes. Look at the record.
The Athletic article describes Kelly as the Anti-Shaw when it comes to quality of staff and the ability to delegate. BTW, BK has no qualms about cashiering assistants who are underachievers.

I believe Jack Swarbrick was the engine behind the changes after they went 4-8. We dream of 4-8!

Nah. Colgate lost to Cornell this year, and as a Cornell alum, no one loses to Cornell.

I realize that it is impossible, but what happens if we win? What will the chances of a change happening then? Never say never!
Might be 70. Not kidding.

Here’s the problem with the spread — Kelly would normally be all to happy not to run up the score. ND and Stanford often compete for the same recruits and Kelly would love to keep Shaw & staff employed and in total disarray at Stanford. Just like Shaw was rooting for UCLA to keep its old coaches like Neuheisel.
But here’s the problem with that — ND has an outside chance of making the playoffs but have no conference championship for that 13th win so they need to utterly dominate to maximize their chances.
They need to win 56-3 to look as impressive as possible, and I think they can do it.

In no universe does another coach’s job security fit into the game plan. The way to keep your opponent employed is to root for him to upset someone else.

Yeah but will Kelly run a fake punt pass when ahead by 50 or so?

Well the domers may not need to punt at all even if they are facing 4th down.
