This is one of those "wow, we've come so far." posts.

I would be beyond thrilled with 14-0 after a trip to Pasadena.

Not a problem!  And could easily happen, if things go Stanford's way on Nov. 12.

I'd be plenty ok with that... especially since this would still mean we won the first ever Pac-12 championship game (which would be a nice complement to having played in the first-ever Rose Bowl!)

But... Oregon first. Without that, we could very well be headed to San Antonio (although I think an at-large is possible, maybe even likely given the state of the B1G).

I don't think it happens - Rose Bowl.  IF we take care of business this week in what we all know will be the epic battle for the Pac12 championship and IF we win out, I think we are in New Orleans.    I watched the end of the Ok St vs Kansas St game.  Oklahoma will beat the cowboys if they don't lose prior.    We just need to take care of business and I think we will have our shot.

After watching the poor QB play, field goal fiesta that was LSU Alabama, I would love to see us battle for the National Championship against the SEC.  A player like Luck comes once every 20+ years or so.  I hope he can lead us and more importantly, this team, to that ultimate finish.    What a great story for Stanford!  Let's win this one this weekend in our House and let Game Day and the nation know that Stanford plays great football!

Really. Even if we beat Oregon, there are still two tough games ahead.

Plunkett, Elway anyone?

Three. Beating Oregon clinches the North.

I refuse to get wound up about where we stand in the BCS and whether we will jump any teams in front of us until after Saturday's game.

That being said, if we go undefeated, and "only" get a trip to the Rose Bowl out of it, I'm fine with that, as a fan. Winning a BCS CG would be great, but I personally am a traditionalist who likes seeing the Pac10-Big10 match up in the RB.

Rather play SEC in the Sugar Bowl.

You guys are getting way ahead of yourselves.  I've seen Oregon play a few times.  I like our chances with Skov, Howell, Ertz, Owusu, Browning, Williamson, and so on, but without those guys I wonder.  I think we'll get our points, but so will the Ducks.  I don't think Thomas will hurt us that much with his arm, but their RBs are fast.  If LMJ gets into the secondary he can do a lot of damage.

I hope the scenario you guys are talking about tomes to pass.  I know it would be hugely disappointing, but we could still lose 2 or 3 games this season depending on how the injury situation stacks up.  On Saturday I saw a patched-up secondary and fullbacks and tight ends lining up as WR's.  If the game is close at the end we may be without our starting kicker.
