NFL looking at alternative venues for the Super Bowl -
cardcrimson - 01-05-2022
The game is currently scheduled for So-Fi Stadium in LA, but concerns over potential Covid restrictions have the NFL looking at other venues outside of California. Didn't realize (or care) that the Grammies and Critic's Choice awards had already been postponed. . . .
Will be an interesting few weeks.

So rather a super-spreader event in Texas than, say, handing out (sponsored) N95 masks and requiring their use...okay...

I think you could maybe get 10% of the crowd to wear n95 masks. By Feb 13th we'll likely be on a steep case decline.
Whatever though, I'd be more than happy for the Super Bowl to go somewhere besides LA.
Omicron is too transmissible to stop with behavioral interventions, however if your local hospital is being overwhelmed it's socially the right thing to do to try and limit your interactions. I doubt very much LA will be in that position by then, as someone who has had to work ICU shifts in prior surges, this one is not behaving the same way.

IIRC there's 2 weeks between the conference title games and the SB. Regardless of venue, if I were one of the 2 competing coaches I would absolutely lockdown my team for those 2 weeks. Do the pressers and PR stunts remotely. But of course even if that were possible I doubt it would happen.

On the SB crew but I won't fly so it's I5 for me. They could go to Vegas or Glendale but I bet Dallas gets it.

let's hope omicron is under control by then.
