Will Harbaugh bring Tavita to UM as his OC?? -

looks like he's got a job opening
Quote:Miami has finalized a deal to hire Michigan's Josh Gattis as its new offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN. As the Wolverines' offensive coordinator in 2021, Gattis won the Broyles Award as the nation's top assistant and is regarded as one of the country's rising coaching prospects.
Gattis has already texted his players and informed them that he's leaving, a source told ESPN's Tom VanHaaren. In a text to some Michigan players, Gattis said, "Unfortunately the past few weeks has told a different story to me about the very little appreciation I have here from administration. In life I would never advise anyone to be where they are not wanted ..."

Translation . . .?
Gattis wanted a raise to stay at Michigan and admin said no?
Gattis wanted to be Harbaugh successor when he was expected to go to Vikes and administration said no?
Gattis doesn't like working for Harbs and is just referring to "administration" as a deflection ploy?

D? All of the above?
Talk about burning bridges. . . .
Also interesting that the Harbs boys seem to be trading assistants often.

What's your basis for that?
What is known is that when it looked as if Harbaugh was headed to Minnesota that Gattis started gathering internal support to be his replacement (and got some) but concluded that Manuel was focused on an outside hire. Meaning #2.
If Gattis simply wanted to get away from Harbaugh and was willing to make a lateral move then presumably he would have done so earlier in the offseason when jobs were opening everywhere. As the reigning Broyles award winner he would have been in demand. Doesn't mean that he loves working for Harbaugh, but the timing indicates that his feelings changed during the period when it appeared that the Michigan HC job was in play.

I read the word “administration” as a substitute for “Harbaugh”. The entire matter of how Harbaugh handled his interest in returning to the NFL suggests a failure to be transparent with his senior staff about his intentions. Hence, Gattis’ comment about being unappreciated. Harbaugh talks a great game about “us against the world” but, in fact, he means “me against the world”. Gattis called him on it and the result is that he took his talents to South Beach (to coin a phrase).
The Athletic published an article in which the author stated, “By allowing all this stuff to float aimlessly for weeks - by never addressing any of this publicly or even privately with his bosses, in a clear straightforward manner (which did not happen) - he hurt Michigan’s reputation, and his own”. Granted the author mentioned “his bosses” but I believe Harbaugh owed something to his coordinators as well.

Well, that's one interpretation. Another read is that "administration" means "administration". If it looks like your boss is quitting and you're not given any consideration as his successor then it's logical to look elsewhere where you may feel more appreciated. That's what has been reported. I do agree that Harbaugh put his staff in a terrible position since his successor might not have kept the whole group and most jobs are filled, but in Gattis's particular case it appears he got a preview of where he stands in the succession plan and it was not to his liking.

So is the Pritchard piece of this anything other than pure speculation?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd ****LOVE**** for Harbaugh to take this problem off our hands, but I don't think there's a snowball's chance in Hell of it happening.

LOL, it was click-bait to get you to read about a Michigan assistant leaving. Harbaugh is not going to hire (or even consider hiring) Pritchard.
With regards to the Athletic article, it is his MO as far back as when he was publicly considering Kansas (Kansas!) as a Stanford coach. I don’t think he gives much consideration to the effect of his actions, and if we are honest, those effects are probably overblown. It gives his recruiting competitors something to negatively recruit with, but recruits are constantly being told that “coach at [recruiting rival] will probably be leaving for a better job in a year”. And often it is true!

It's an open secret that Gattis was pulled from his recruiting duties at Michigan last fall after rumors of Gattis sleeping with a recruit's mom leaked (and spread like wildfire). Gattis surely isn't welcome at Michigan right now anyway, and to think he had a shot to replace Harbs is laughable...he knows how he earned his rep.

Hey, a good recruiter has to do what he's got to do. It's called commitment. :•)
The mom (rumor has it)?:
