This weekend on the Farm or Radio/TV/Net - M T - 02-11-2022

Too often I find out too late about sports events other than WBB, MBB, FB that I could watch.  Yeah, it is all on the Full Calendar at GoStanford.com, but I thought it might be useful to others if such events were mentioned here.  (Besides, the "Live Stats" link disappears on the calendar once the results are known.  I find it useful to review those stats after the game.)

#8 Stanford men's tennis swept Cal 4-0.
#5 Stanford women's swimming beat #8 Cal in the final dual meet of the season.
Stanford women's gymnastics beat UCLA for the first time in nearly 6 years, 196.900 to 196.850.

Definitely a good sports weekend--including men's hoops.   
I am no gymnastics expert despite enjoying the sport.   can someone help me understand how close a difference of 0.050 points is?   Feels pretty close . . . but might be more expert context to be had on this board.

They are good, but mostly, I suspect, because they had a phenomenal finisher in the free exercise, who introduced new moves.

3) To borrow a joke from a stand-up comic one late night in an Elko, Nevada night club (don't ask) - the press is all over the fact UCLA stands for University of California, Los Angeles, and not University of Carlin by the Lake...Almost. Gotta love that Basin & Range humor, right?

In re the latter, the press has been somewhat quiet on the circumstances around an Bruin gymnast's sudden departure and transfer to LSU earlier in the season, and on the ongoing related fall out, which is to say the program has gotten off pretty easily, IMO.

Otherwise, really glad Stanford got this losing streak off their backs.  My coworker attended with her daughter's club (West Valley) and said Kyra Bryant was especially impressive.  Great job, ladies!

Yaaas, indeed - great food at the Star!  BTW, we were just in the Basque mother country over the holidays, visiting our son who's in a boat building school just east of Donostia-San Sebastian.  The food was incredible - fortunately we were walking so much everyday, I miraculously lost weight on the trip. 

OK, enough thread drift :-) - now back to GO CARDINAL!  Still waiting on that T&F report from Bob......

The LA Times did a pretty good job telling that story. See article below. As far as I know, the AD Martin Jarmond has been silent except for the one public statement you will see in the story.
