While I would prefer that my athletes stayed away from all drugs and alcohol, I would agree that this is a good move on the basis that, if recreational use can’t be shown to affect ones ability to play, then no one should have the right to regulate what that adult person puts into his or her body. Rules such as these (those that are being modified as well as the slightly altered replacements) are based on historically reactive data and should reflect current science. Given how long cannabis can be detected in a person, these rules seem to enable an institution far too much access into one's private life.

Take the title of this thread and insert a semicolon between "relax" and "marijuana."  Now you have a compound sentence that I agree with 100%.

Also the idea that you can still get in trouble for doing something that is legal in your state is beyond stupid. NCAA needs to get out of its 20th-century mindset.
