Stanford seems to have a much better team than expected, but no one seems to care too much.

starting to gather ranking votes -- if they keep up the good work, they will suddenly be noticed!

Three consecutive no hitters with one being a perfect game is sort of hard to ignore, but the rest of softball is doing a good job of tha.

Stanford wins today. Win 3 of 4 in Oklahoma. Team is now 18-4

Thanks for the updates Bob. We actually lost one more (a heartbreaker to DePaul, which has long been the dominant team in the Big East; we committed 5 errors that led to 4 unearned runs, and then 2 more unearned runs with the college softball tournament extra inning rule of placing a runner on second gave DePaul all the offense it needed).

However, a run rule win over Minnesota (11-3), and a dominant win over a team that made the WCWS on the road is massive for the resume. 3-2 record against this schedule half way across country was great showing.

I wasn’t going to mention the error ex :)

RE: Stanford Softball - Mick - 03-07-2022

Stanford's record is a gaudy 18-4.  The Pac-12 teams look pretty good right now:

Oregon State and UCLA are both 17-3, Oregon is 16-3, Arizona is 15-4, Washington is 15-5, Cal and Utah are both 15-6, and Arizona State is 13-5.

League play will be interesting...

Stanford Softball does not get any favors from the RPI System in its first ranking (in contrast to our Massey ranking, which is #31, we are #47 in RPI in the first release). Unfortunately, in terms of tournament selection and seeding, RPI carries big weight, and as far as I know, Massey basically carries no weight.

Our RPI SOS is 207, which explains our low ranking (obviously our SOS is going to get much better from here, between our competition in two weeks in Missouri, and Pac-12 play).

No sub Top 100 losses in RPI, but only a 6-4 record against RPI Top 100.

Our resume is highlighted by the win at RPI #6 Oklahoma State.

All in all, we have work to do after finals and for the rest of the season to affirm/secure our NCAA berth, and improve our seeding. We certainly have work to do if we are going to get a Top 16 regional seed.
