OT. Spaceman still dealing - lex24 - 03-30-2022

Bill Lee, who once said his favorite play in baseball is a pop up cause it gave him time to think and when asked if he preferred grass or Astroturf  replied : “I don’t know I’ve never smoked astroturf” is still pitching.  He’s 75.  Pitched to a few hitters in minor league game.  Struck out some poor guy with an ephoeus pitch.

Judging from unis, I suspect this is the Savannah Bananas team that tours and does all kinds of off-beat stuff to entertain fans.  (And pretty good crowd there, too).

Eric Byrnes, himself a unique, balls-to-the-wall-at-all-times character, recently agreed to manage the team.  Not sure if that's him in the video or not.  
Good for all of them for living life to the fullest!

The most famous epheous pitch was delivered by Pirate Rip Sewell to Ted Williams in the 1946 All Star Game. The Splinter hit it out.

God Bless The Spaceman. Faced him twice in HS and was the butt of quite a few lines from him and Rod Dedeaux in college. Lee, Tom House and Mike Adamson were a fantastic USC rotation in the mid 60’s. Bill was a fixture for years at the Sox fantasy camp.
