tOSU survey re kids & football - M T - 04-03-2022

The future & issues of football has been discussed here previously.  I noticed a news article about a survey of 4000 adults about the appropriateness of football for "kids" that might be of interest as a indicator of sentiment.

Quote:Participants were asked to rate on a scale of 1 (strongly disagree) to 4 (strongly agree) the statement “Tackle football is an appropriate sport for kids to play.”

...about 45% of Americans agreed that tackle football is appropriate for kids, while 50% disagreed. The remainder didn’t know.
Ohio State University press release

Note: "kids" was intentionally left undefined.

The press release suggests that is 45/50/5 percent is after the actual results were extrapolated to the full US (adult?) population.

An analysis of the results (which I haven't read because it is behind a paywall).  I will note that the press release makes statements that can't possibly be confirmed from a survey of that single question.  Without looking to see if they did further questioning for confirmation, I don't know whether that analysis is mostly the opinions of the authors about the opinions of others.

Former Stanford Football player Nick Sanchez has started a Flag Football group I forget the name but it’s national.
My grandson plays and loves it. Doubt his parents would allow tackle football but that’s way in the future
