Casual fan here. In a loss, the box score says Stanford outhit Texas State, and that the team had zero errors.

Stanford wasn't charged with any errors but Crampton dropping the ball on a possible DP and Huff not catching a ball in foul territory were both costly, and could have been ruled errors by a harsher scorer.
TSU with two doubles and three home runs, Stanford scattering a bunch of singles, one double and no homers. That won't work these days.

You're right, neither qualify as errors (a scorer can't presume a double play, and Huff's play was tough, especially near the opposing dugout) but those are plays that those two guys usually make, and unfortunately in this case they hurt Stanford, that's all.

Down a run in the 6th against UCSB, and the box score says Stanford has 11 hits to UCSB’s 4.
Surely the hits will come when needed, right?
And just after I post, Brock Jones hits a double to knock in two runs. Stanford up 5-4 in the sixth.
