Even if he doesn't end up coaching, it is great to have a great alum back on campus. But the fact that he is pursuing a Masters in Education
could possibly indicate an interest in coaching?

I always thought it be a hoot to have Andrew Luck, the Andrew Luck Director of Offense. . . .He'd bring some confidence and creativity, too.

Poor Tavita.  That would make twice that Luck replaces him. (Although I doubt that this is the plan.)

It's just a crazy-fun thought that Luck might be riding his bike to class, flip-phone in hand. He'll probably attend some of the games like the rest of us. (I saw Toby a couple of times in the crowd last season... so why not?  It's Stanford, not Indianapolis!)

Andrew Luck back at Stanford - needle - 08-30-2022

He’ll be an education grad student.

I'll go out on a limb and say he'll dominate IM's.

In which sport? He grew up in Europe playing European Football and played basketball in high school in Texas.

Toby Gerhart played IM flag football while at the GSB. I have no idea why that was even allowed!

And Bill Walton played IM hoops when he was at the Law School for a brief time in the early 80s. I don't think Eric Heiden signed up for any IMs while he was on campus.

Yeah that's a bit odd. Back in the day, anyone who played D1 was not allowed to play IMs in that sport.

I don't see anything odd about the GSB getting around something that is supposed to make things fair.

Eric Heiden played IM flag football. My draw mates came back shaking their heads after getting smoked by him.  They said his thighs were like tree trunks even after having retired.

It seems like it should have been against the rules for Olympians to do IMs, but the rules are just that you can't compete in your own sport.

On a related note, when my roommate was playing IM ultimate frisbee he leapt high to grab a catch in the endzone, but someone leapt even higher to snatch it out of the air from behind. He turned around to see Todd Lichti grinning at him.

What a great Lichti anecdote!

Eric Heiden went from speed skating to competitive biking so no surprise he kept tree trunk thighs.

Garin Veris played in my dorm's ultimate frisbee team after his rookie year with the Patriots. His girlfriend lived in my dorm.

My friends said that they had never seen such a big guy run like a gazelle. A very likeable person with a good sense of humor.

We tried so hard to convince Luke Kaumatule to join our frosh dorm's IM volleyball team (unsuccessfully - it was fall quarter during football season). He lived down the hall from me and roomed with one of my best friends. Awesome guy. I still wonder what could've been if we'd had a 6'7" TE at middle blocker.
