OT Bob Costas - Phogge - 08-30-2022

While reading of the death of Gorbachov today I thought of Costas' best line never uttered on TV. We are waiting for him to do spring interviews at the St. Pete home of the Cardinals.

Walking into the dugout with a NY Times and a cup of coffee, "John Holmes is dead. A nation mourns."

Here's my favorite Bob Costas line, which was uttered on TV.  He was NBC's host for the opening ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.  Olivia Newton-John (God rest her soul) stole the show for Australians as she belted out the theme song.  Costas added dryly, as she received her applause, "Both Olivia Newton-John, and the Olympic movement, owe a great deal of gratitude to Greece."

I know, it's funnier when spoken rather than read.
