Fascinating. I had no idea how close she came to retiring in 2015. So happy she is happy!

It's hiding on nytimes.com apparently. I can't find it.

It's not on the NYT site itself, though there's a link to it in the index at the bottom.

How to get access to the Athletic for NY Times subscribers
Apparently the NYT is currently losing a lot of money on its $550 million purchase (The Athletic was losing money), but fortunately the NYT is printing money at the moment and is trying to increase its number of subscribers.

Thanks so much for posting. I had missed it in The Athletic, to which I subscribe. There's a lot to think about here -- including, if Tara is taking the summer off, as described -- and good for her, in many ways, I think -- then she must be delegating some of the things she used to do during the summer to others. Does this mean that Kate Paye now is carrying more responsibility, and that in turn implies that she's being increasingly prepared to take over when Tara does eventually retire? Who is running Tara's basketball camps? How about the roles for Katie and Brittney during the summer, and is this related to adding Jeanette to the team? All questions that come to my mind as I read. And am grateful that Tara is able to get this real vacation at her cabin on a lake. (Just the sort of place that appeals to me!)
