About the only thing going well for football this year is the Cardboard's ability to accurately predict the winner. Can we go 4-0?

Just googled the odds. Oregon at only -8.5 and the over/under at 139.5.
I clicked the link--turns out Google is giving me hoops odds from last year. . . .Ahh, hi tech is amazing!
Apparently we opened as 10.5 point underdogs. Now we're 16.5 point underdogs. Ouch. Over under up to 62.5.
So far this season, Oregon doesn't get motivated until it's too late or until they really need to. Watching film on us, they won't be motivated at all. Afraid of picking an upset, but for now, I think it will be closer than most predict. We put 22 on the Huskies, perhaps we can hang 27 on the Ducks. Still Ducks put 37 on our beleaguered D.

Ducks put up at least 55.

This is a trap game for Cardinal, and Vegas agrees, dissing us by at least 15... could easily lose this.
1) DUMP the S L O W Read - [Slam] - Pass - Option. Get McKee throwing quickly to 5 different guys.
2) This is HOME GAME, Big Time for Casey Filkins -- Prep Player of da Year in Oregon, 2019.
Get Filkins out in space.
Use Arlen Harris or somebody big for the fake up the middle. Fake it up the middle again. Play action... PASS 60 times.
3) Give McKee some spells with Williams or Patu. MIX IT UP! The WRs and TEs can catch balls. Throw it. Use more motion.
4) I don't care if we get burned -- blitz. Anderson is afraid to get burned and we let the other team just burn up clock.
BLITZ and force fumbles. Play tight MAN. Sitting back and losing by 21 is a proven gameplan for LOSERS.
We must force turnovers -- that is the only way we beat them in 2018, in the 38-31 OT thriller on ESPN.

I've never been as sure about a Stanford shellacking in recent memory. Maybe leading up to one of the early Tedford/Rogers beat-downs, or the 2008 U$C game (year after the "GUE"). Over-matched, under-coached, outclassed -- and in Eugene, no less. Oregon's had this on its calendar for a year. The Duck Clown's arms will be like real feathers by game's end.

Actually our record against the Ducks in Eugene over the last ten years has been as good as our record against them at Stanford.
Both winning BTW.

All true. But I'm talking about this week's game. I made no reference to the recent record against Oregon with which I am very familiar.

I realize that but you were talking like the fact that the game was in Eugene was going to make things even worse for us. Recent history does not bear that out.

Let's put it this way. All things considered, another Stanford loss is highly likely. No matter the venue. But I stand on my statement that Oregon has a home-field advantage this time around against this Stanford team.

Oregon averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
Assuming McKee stays healthy, Stanford will have a chance to pull an upset this year. But any team with a very good rushing attack is going to score lots and lots of points with relative ease. Don’t like Stanford’s chances in this one.

I've got very mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, I like the competition of guessing the score and being fairly accurate. But I also like to be loyal. I'm also thinking we've played the spoiler against the Quacks more than once (and they on us). In 2018, at Autzen, it was Costello vs Herbert, and we won in OT, 38-31. They had mostly better stats, except for turnovers (us, zero, them, 3). Their TOP was 35:42, ours was 24:18. So, while it isn't entirely realistic to believe we'll come off with a W, I'm going with a 33-31 final victory. Go Cardinal!

A reasoned guess of the final score being conflict with emotional loyalty, I don't understand. What you THINK will happen has nothing to do with what you want to happen, i.e., what your impartial rational brain concludes will happen has nothing to with what your partisan sentiments would prefer. Hey, whatever. In 2007 I would have lost my shirt taking the points vs. U$C, which I almost did, but I was overjoyed at a George Thorogood concert that night in Berkeley, of all places! Watched that game at Henry's in the belly of he beast. kal fans were there cheering and high-fiving w/Cardinalmaniacs. True story. Oh, but if you're a betting person, take the Ducks and the points this week.

Obviously an even better experience watching that game with one bourbon, one scotch and one beer.

I fully expect to come in last by picking Stanford to win every game this year.
Colgate was the high point of my prediction game.

I also always pick Stanford to win. It's simple. If I think Stanford will win, I pick with my head. If I think Stanford will lose, I pick with my heart.
Cheers,

I get the fan spirit here, but I completely separate what I WANT to happen from what I THINK will happen. I would be thrilled to see us upset the Ducks on Saturday. What a great way to kick off the month of October! But...I frankly don't see that happening. Hence my rather pessimistic projection of a 42-21 Duck victory. I see nothing to warrant what I want to happen: this team has been pommeled by two ranked opponents this season and is already suffering from the injury bug. Just don't see the upset.
My approach has the added advantage that 1) I can be thrilled if I am wrong and 2) if I am right, at least my prediction score on the Cardboard remains respectable. Unfortunately, I am 3-0 this season. I would prefer to be 1-2 and the team 3-0, but that's not what has happened so far.
