To me, that just shows that she probably hasn't swum a short-course 1500M race maybe ever. Looking through SwimSwam's database of women's top times in the 1500M SC Free, I see no Americans in the last decade. I presume that is because there are no major meets in the US in 25m pools. I believe 25M pools are more common in Europe, but still not many major meets in short-course meters.
Katie's 1650yd record (2017) is 5 seconds faster (15:03.31) despite being 9.4 yards longer but with 6 turns more (65 turns vs 59 turns). I *think* that world record 1500M SC Free is pretty equivalent to the 1650Y SC Free some 5 years earlier. That's good to see.
Just to put it in perspective for non-swimmers, how long does it take you to walk a mile?
