As good as he is nobody back East knows. Moody will win the Groza again. Kept Michigan unbeaten today setting up the game of the year next week.
I think Karty can declare. He should and get off the Lusitania.

He is a junior, so he could go pro after this season.

I guess that's the third option in my "Mr. Muir, I will be playing for a different head coach next season. It's up to you as to whether that's at Stanford"
However, Karty might be the only guy on the roster for whom it's a realistic option
RE: Karty -
martyup - 11-19-2022
It looks like Karty will end the season with several Stanford kicking records. He is now 15/15 on FGs this season.
1)
FG % -- The record for FG % is held by Jet Toner at 0.933 (14/15) in 2018. Karty will beat that record if he doesn't miss 2 FGs against BYU.
2)
FG MADE IN GAME -- Karty already shares this record (5) with John Hopkins and Nate Whitaker.
3)
LONGEST FG -- Today's 61 yard FG by Karty broke the record of 59 yards held by Mark Harmon and Rod Garcia.
4)
EXTRA POINT % -- Karty joins a number of kickers with a perfect record on extra point kicks, both for a season and career.

He would have to miss 2 FGs against BYU to not take the record for season FG %.
When Karty kicked the 61 yard FG today there were 5 seconds left on the clock. After the kick there was no time left. That's a lot of air time.

Which means he could break two records further or lose two records. More downside than upside. Let's forfeit.

He very well may be Stanfords only first team All PAC-12 pick. I don’t think Stanford has ever had a place kicker in NFL. Hoping he ends that drought.
Phogge is right. Moody will win the Groza. He’s 25-30. 47-47 on extra points. Michigan actually scores TD. Lots of opportunities.
Thing about Karty is not just that he’s been perfect. He’s 12-12 on kicks of 40 or more. That’s damn impressive.

I think Mike Michel and Braden Beck were the only Stanford kickers that played in the NFL or AFL -- and Michel was really a punter. Michel was a 5th round pick of the Dolphins, went 9 for 12 on extra points, and didn't attempt a field goal. Beck was drafted in the 19th round of the 1965 AFL draft, he played two games for Houston, and went 1 for 2 on both FGs and XPs.
I think Conrad Ukropina was invited to a combine. I don't think any other Stanford kicker had a sniff of the NFL.

Do we count Jake Bailey, who did kickoffs for the Pats for a while?
Also believe Jet Toner was in contention to "sniff" the NFL per your definition. But IIRC he got hurt at some point and that was it for him.

Lusitania? That ship was attacked and sunk. More like the Titanic, where there were reports of icebergs, but the Captain was so sure of himself and the vessel, he ran right into one and sunk.

I don’t consider someone that kickoffs as a “place kicker”.

I think Frankie Albert handled some kicks when Soltau was hurt. He definitely punted for the AAFC Niners.
Edit: 1/5 in PAT attempts when Soltau was hurt. He did lead the AAFC in punting (48ypp) in 1949.

Did Elway punt at Stanford? He did with the Broncos (quick kicks).

Regarding Karty's last-second boot, there was this article in Yahoo Sports. This FG sent the score total above the 46.5 O/U.
