USC beats UCLA - Robbie - 06-30-2010

If you didn\'t know already, UCLA was denied their 106th NCAA championship (and first ever in baseball) when they were defeated by South Carolina at the College World Series yesterday.

I haven\'t decided whether I think this is a good thing or not. It\'s hard to root for an SEC team in any sport at any time, but if Stanford ever hopes to catch up to UCLA in total championships we need them to miss a few. And rooting for any team that uses USC as its abbreviation is inherently wrong. I think I\'ll have to retroactively file this under \'I should have been cleaning my gutters\'.

I caught a few innings of game two, including the run scored by UCLA.  That Bruin pitcher sure got himself into quite a few jams, though he was saved by the pop fly if the two runs scored by S. Carolina, one of which was in extra innings, was any indication.

The baseball championship was just the 2nd NCAA team championship ever for South Carolina. (The other one was in women\'s outdoor track & field in 2002.) Good for them.
