Sac St vs Incarnate Word Game Thread -

Since Troy Taylor might well be our coach, this game is relevant to this board.
I like the Sac St defensive coordinator, Andy Thompson. He's very active and animated.
At the half, Incarnate Word is up 28-17.

Sac St. used a double reverse pass successfully. They now trail by 7 in the 3rd.
Sac. St's offense relies heavily on their dual threat QBs. We don't have that type of QB, so he will have to adjust accordingly.
The hornets use a pretty deceptive offensive scheme. Game is now tied at 31 towards the end of the 3rd.

Trailing by 4 with 12:00 remaining in the 4th Q, Sac St. pulls off an onside kick. Ballsy.

After recovering the onside kick, Sac St. drives for a TD to take a 3 point lead. 10:12 remaining in the game. High scoring game. It might take 60 to win.
Which defense will step up?
As I typed that, UIW scored on a run up the middle. Now 52-48 Word.
Sac.St's QB fumbled and UIW picked it up and ran it back for a TD. Now 59-48 Word. 8:19 to play.
Now 59-56 Word. 4:57 to play.
And Sac St. recovers another onside kick.
Both defenses playing like the Washington Generals.
Sac St. has over 700 yards of offense.

The Sac state offense is the anti Shaw. Hurry up, aggressive, misdirection. Can't wait. Hopefully his d coordinator is better than what they have at Sac state now.

Sac St. scores a TD with 1:43 to play. Now 63-59 Sac St.

Taylor with poor clock management at end of game.

Yup. Going to end the game with two timeouts. Could have used one on that first down. Lost 5-7 seconds.

Word wins it. What a game.

Amazing. 738 yards. No punts. Yet they managed to lose due to being -4 on turnovers.
The radio guys for Sac State are professing their appreciation and admiration for Coach Taylor. They certainly think it’s a done deal.

Watched the 23-minute highlight reel on YouTube this morning. Long TD runs, crazy receptions, flea flickers, all sorts of action. Will any of SacState's players be in the portal? Their soph RB, Cameron Skattlebo (love the name), is an anthropology major. Fun game to watch, no turtling.
Incarnate Word is a private Catholic university in Texas with an enrollment of about 9,000. Hope they take it all the way to the FCS championship. Go Cardinals!

I forecast disaster if TT is Stanford's coach.

I'd be animated too if my defense was getting torched like that.
If it's Taylor, Stanford's defense is going to be destroyed on a weekly basis.
I don’t like this likely hire at all.

Crazy thought: what if Taylor hires a different DC? Insane, I know.

It's all about talent, especially on defense. Stanford's defense needs to be off the field as much as possible.
With Taylor's high-tempo O, whether it's successful or not, the defense is going to play many minutes. I look at this roster and cringe at the thought.
