Big Game in October poll - yvonne - 11-21-2011

A friend and I wrote to Bowlsby and several Pac-12 officials regarding the rescheduling of Big Game. Here's what we learned

It appears to be a done deal. The Pac-12 official (I was passed off to a flack) said the complexities of having 12 teams necessitated an occasional game change. I don't buy this because there is an even number of member schools, 10 of which have traditional rivalries, and two of which came in a pair. The date could be reserved, and no other team's schedule would be affected.

Bowlsby said,  "Both Cal and Stanford voted for a schedule that would have had the game scheduled on the third weekend in November but that schedule format failed to receive the necessary votes from the Directors of Athletics to be adopted." It appears we are the new whipping boys in the conference. We were the ones who had to move outside our geographic region to accommodate the new schools.

I'd still like to encourage everyone who cares to write, and to encourage others to do the same. Conference officials can ignore a handful of fans, but they are less likely to ignore a large volume.

I fully expect next year's mid-season Big Game to have much lower than normal ticket sales.

It'll probably be on a Thursday night, too.

Uh huh!  Cause everyone that goes to C.a.l games takes BART, so it should be easier to get there for a 5PM game.
