Stanford Football Marketing - It's Crickets... -
CardinalSagehen - 03-06-2023
I am observing little to no:
- Newsletter emails
- Social media posts (other than about the one ILB transfer - I saw about 600 of those!)
- Requests to renew my season tickets (I don't even know the status, to be honest, although I'm not sweating it.)
- Invitations to the Spring Game
- Videos of guys working out and doing drills as a team
- Attempts to excite me about the new coaching regime, beyond the wave following the original announcement
Is this all related to Eubanks' departure? Should we take this as: (a) the wheels falling off of the business apparatus of the program; (b) a temporary blip while they fill some open positions; or ( c ) an exclusive, unapologetic focus on fundamentals and the imperative to improve on the field? I would not be against ( c ) if it were a conscious choice.
Maybe some others here are more connected. It just seems like there's a total lack of buzz right now, even compared to other February-March periods.

Hah! I just received it, too. If I actually have any pull whatsoever, then we are really in trouble.
But this is the kind of thing that they need to be doing.

Perhaps someone connected to the football program is lurking on the Cardboard.

I was looking at the same thing. I’m trying to figure out when the spring game is and haven’t seen anything yet.

There is space on the RSVP form to submit a question. What question would you want to ask Coach Taylor? Or what question do you want to hear him answer?

Spring game April 22. No time as of yet.

I feel like I'm seeing the same amount of social media clips as usual but I don't pay very much attention to those. On Mar. 3, there was an email to season ticket holders offering a free barbeque lunch and discounted tickets to the Men's baseball gave vs. Oregon State on Sunday March 19th. Some of my football tailgate group and I will be going. The last day to sign up for the bbq is March 9. Check your junk mail for March 3 because that's where I have to look for most of my Stanford sports emails.
Cheers,
Pete F.

Here is RB coach Agnew tweeting out a spring practice image that's starting to make the rounds.
Looks like Spring Game is April 22nd at 1:00pm, if I'm reading that tiny text correctly.

I know this is football, which doesn’t necessarily accompany good grammar, but does this grate on anyone else besides me? Come on marketing people. Even MS Word’s grammar check should catch this.

No why should it. Take the good news instead

I'm not seeing anything wrong except that "we" is closer than "you" to the clause "As a valued supporter...". That makes it sound like "we" are the valued supporter rather than "you". Would MS Word catch that, or did I miss something more blatant?

I'd ask if they are going to open up practices to the railbirds or will the practice fields continue to be hermetically sealed.
The program needs to attract interest and open practices would help.

It sounds like they are open.

Yep, dangling modifier. MS Word can catch that type of error.

Alternatives would be to change to the passive voice "As a valued supporter of Stanford Athletics, you are invited to join an exclusive virtual event..." or to not highlight the pitch that the recipient is a valued supporter "We are excited to invite you, a valued supporter of Stanford Athletics, to join a virtual event..."
It grates because it kind of tries to make the object (you) into the subject "As a valued supporter of Stanford Athletics"

An in-depth discussion of dangling modifiers and proper voices on a sports board? Good grief. If anything should be banned. . . . .

(Finished It For You)
[N.B.: if "it's" can't be replaced by "it is" then it's wrong]
