Muir Renewed. . . . - cardcrimson - 03-10-2023

According to TOS, Muir's contract has been renewed. Apparently MTL wants to keep him, so someone looks worse and more inept than he does.

I am depressed.

Grim.

MTL ==> Drell ==> Muir ==> Haase

"...chain-chain-chain..."   (we miss you, Aretha)

First they cut 9 varsity sports, only to reinstate them when fans revolt.  Then they retain Hasse.  Then they extend Muir's contract.  Looks like Stanford is spitting in the face of its sports fans.

I suppose the case could be made that sports other than football and basketball are all doing well. Yet, those are the two money-makers and go a long way toward shaping national perception concerning Stanford and sports.

From the cancelled sports fiasco to the pay-to-play scandal to the complete mismanagement of entering the era of NIL, I just don’t see why major athletics donors are standing for this.

I was a supporter early on, but I’ve come to think that Muir is not good at his job.

Stanford University could have a broom as AD and the other sports would continue to do well.

As one who follows many sports closely not true at all Samuel

Muir is an embarassment to Stanford. He needs to go. Zillions of reasons why, all of which have been well-documented on these pages ad nauseum.

I am reconsidering whether I can in good conscience support even the golf programs with the University's tolerance for incompetence and malfeasance in its leadership.

In the wake of the 2021 Big Game, I instigated the #MuirAndShawMustGo campaign. Well, I guess .500 ain't bad.
Truth be told, my fervor for Stanford FB and MBB is, at this moment, pretty much dissipated. Grateful for Tara and the baseball kids, of course, and while I wish the new football regime all the best (heading for Honolulu--my first out-of-state roadie since the Army game in 2013) my pulse is pretty calm these days. As in meditation mode. Thanks, Bernie. I'm sure you're enjoying the ride.

I first read "Muir Rewed".  Dang, this is a bummer.  (Hope his marriage is a happy one though.)

Maybe the BOT needs to go.  Stanford has been struggling across the board. Sure, media love to burn down the elite, but there is more than just smoke there.....

Maybe the secret is to replace the BoT membership.

The irony is thick here. Evidently paying a player so that they attend is ok, while paying the school to get someone without athletic talent admitted is a scandal.

Well, look at the most read thread on this page. It's "sports trivia", which is a pretty good thread btw, especially if you follow baseball.
