Tangentially related, this weekend I met 100-year-old Richard Bushong who was a B-17 pilot in WW2 and flew 28 missions.
My 19-year-old was amazed that when this guy was his age he was flying bombers and getting shot at.
If you're ever in Tucson, the Pima Air & Space Museum is definitely worth a visit even if civilians are no longer allowed to visit the airplane boneyard.
