USA FIBA women's 3x3 World Cup -
stopandpop - 06-01-2023
Team USA defeated Mongolia 21-18 and (later) defeated the Czech Republic 21-8.
Cam was 3/5 with 4 rebounds, no blocks in game #1 and came back with a dominating performance 5/7, 9 rebounds and 1 block.
The USA women are now 3-1 after the first four rounds. Interesting to watch how our four players are bonding; especially Brink & Van Lith.

USA defeats Japan 22-17 in an important play-in game.
Brink 3/4 with 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
Next up- host country Austria.
USA defeats Austria before a sold-out home crowd, 21-17.
Brink and Van Lith working well together. Brink- 4 of 6, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. A brief scare when Brink went down, holding her knee, but after sitting for less than 30 seconds, she was back on the court. Austria stayed in the game because of some exceptional shooting beyond the arc, but no one challenged Brink on the inside.
USA advances to the semi-finals tomorrow against China.

Brink and Van Lith both grew up in the Pacific Northwest, maybe a couple of hundred miles apart.
Van Lith was supposedly an honor student in high school. Wonder why Stanford never got in the picture.

Shouldn't Brink be in school?

Brink and Van Lith have been US Basketball teammates before, too.

We recruited Van Lith, but....

Current quarter schedule at link below. Yes, it looks like Stanford's Spring quarter is in full swing with last day of classes shown as June 7 and end of quarter exams scheduled June 9-14.
Perhaps Brink has a light load this quarter heavy in seminars and/or distance learning?

Congrats to Cam and team USA. Women won 3x3 gold, with Cam as MVP. All-tournament team only had 3 players (of course!) so HVL who played very well in the gold medal match does not make it but she and Cam are a great duo! Cierra Burdick apparently first ever to get 2 gold medals in the adult 3x3. Still wish we could have seen the 2 pony-tailed twins together at Stanford.

Some of these 3x3 teams have been playing for one or more YEARS! USA's team just a few weeks and Brink had never played 3x3 before. After their first round loss to Canada, the team just kept getting better and better and better. Having watched every USA game in the tournament and Brink's performance, she has elevated her performance to another level and as good as she was last season, get ready for something special in 2023-2024.

Totally agree. Cam was a beast, especially in the semi's against China. If you want to watch Cam at her best, watch that one on YouTube. Wow, just wow.
