Ayomanor and Karty are Pac-12 Players of the Week - terry - 10-16-2023

Elic Ayomanor is the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, and Joshua Karty is the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week.

Appears that EA has also been named national offensive player of the week by several outfits (here's one), with the big one (the Walter Camp) to be announced tomorrow, I think.

Not to detract one iota from EA
But he’d probably be the first to tell you it was made possible by Daniels putting the ball on target
And Daniels probably be the first to tell you his ball on target was made possible by the OLine (and backs) giving him enough time in pass protection

I was very impressed by Daniels. He checked off, he scrambled just enough, he unloaded the ball on target just when he needed to, often taking a hard hit after releasing, he threw the ball away when he needed to so as to avoid the sack. He made a few bad passes that he got lucky on, but overall he played lights out, imo.

Certainly more than well deserved but I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't give it to Penix. And if I were just a bit more cynical than I already am, I would expect it to go to Shedeur Sanders...or maybe Travis Hunter.

Ha ha someone on this board described Hunter as a "future NFL slot back."  Great moves on O but not a chance of him playing both ways at the next level.

I wished Karty played for the Niners on Sunday instead of the 49ers' all-everything third round pick from Michigan. Moody is 22nd in FG % and 28th in touchbacks, and is the only NFL kicker with multiple kickoffs (2) that have gone out of bounds resulting in a penalty.

I am glad Karty kicks for the Cardinal. I think Moody was 9 for 9 going into Cleveland. Missed two of three. Thought Mitch was handling the kickoff duties.

The Niners always intended for Moody to kick off, but Wishnowsky kicked off for a while early in the season/preseason while Moody was recovering from an injury.

Ayomanor wins the Walter Camp Player of the Week award as well. First Stanford player since Bryce Love to win the distinction. Congrats!
