so in even years our conference away games are three in the eastern time zone + Cal, in odd years three in the eastern time zone + SMU in Dallas. No info on the 5 (is it 5 every year?) ACC opponents ND plays or if the Stanford/ND deal gets renewed after next season.

Will we still periodically play non-conference games "back east"?

RE: ACC opponents by year 2024-2030 - cardcrimson - 10-30-2023

Three, perhaps four conference wins next year looks achievable. And if we win three OOC games, we go bowling.

RE: ACC opponents by year 2024-2030 - French Rage - 10-30-2023

Louisville, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Florida State are home twice, away once.
Clemson, NC State, Syracuse, and UNC are home once, away twice.

Gotta imagine Florida State is annoyed they got thrown in the first category (though I guess it all evens out once you throw in Cal's schedule?).

I would hope we could arrange one or two non-conference games against Pac-12 teams each year, moreso since we'll have the fourth non-conference game to work with.

the three scheduled 2024 non-conference games are

- vs TCU on Aug 31
- vs Cal Poly on Sept 7
- @ ND on Oct 12

I hope we open our conference schedule next year with Louisville.  Just confuse everyone off the bat with Cardinal vs Cardinals.

Quote:The conference will also continue without divisions, which it first implemented this season, and the top two teams based on conference winning percentage will continue to compete in the ACC Football Championship Game.

with 17 teams playing 8 conference games it will be interesting to see how often tie-breakers decide who plays in the championship game....

Louisville can't get their 61k stadium to 90 percent full when the team is 6-1, but they did sell out against the Domers. Excitement is generally high for a program under first-year coach Brohm. I think they will travel well next year to the surprise of some. I'm hopeful attendance will top 35k.

SMU games are poorly attended (about 23k at home games this year), but fans are going to be pretty drunk on ACCeptance to a "power" conference. I think attendance will be above 25k.

Va. Tech fans are insane, averaging 64k fans last year in a 3-8 year. I think they will travel, and their inclusion on the home schedule is a true blessing. I'm legit expecting 40k+.

Wake Forest, I'm not even going to bother to look up. It what in hindsight looks amazingly high, Stanford had an announced crowd of 36k when hosting Rice in 2016. How the "mighty" have fallen! I'll say that Wake Forest gets something like 2/3 of that number for attendance of 20k+.

All in all, the home schedule next year could be a lot worse.

RE: ACC opponents by year 2024-2030 - 82lsju - 10-30-2023

as reported elsewhere

Quote:Notre Dame's 5 non-conference games vs. ACC teams are announced through 2037 and it looks to me like no change as been made. So as scheduled now ND will not play Cal, Stanford or SMU as part of their ACC scheduling agreement. Pretty sure that leaves an opening for ND and Stanford to re-up the home-and-home if both schools want to do that.

so it looks like if we are going to continue playing ND we would have to renew the deal that expires after the 2024 game.

so we play Clempus next year.  that should be interesting.

I could see a decent number of visiting fans in the next two or three years as a lot of those schools play West Coast games for the first time in awhile (if ever?), so any fans out here would pencil in those dates.  Maybe after a couple of games, though, their interest might wane.

Sigh..so there will be 8 away games scheduled by attendance alone

So excited about SMU.

Great comfy stadium, solid tailgate scene, relatively easy to get around on game day (access to light rail/nightlife areas).

Will be very easy to hate once the get the Pony Express humming again.

Great to have exposure to Dallas.

Not sure who uses it but in some circles it is pronounced "CLEMP-sun". I think this may be a typo but the aforementioned may have devolved into Clempus.

Clemson has indeed devolved into Clempus in some circles.

hopefully not in early Sept when it might be 100F+....

would be interesting to know how many ACC alumni live in the Bay Area.  For those who live near their alma mater, and don't have access to non-stop flights, I would think that coming to a game would depend on doing a bigger west coast trip...

I'm thinking a "Go Singular!  Beat Plural!" sign.

Agree in all respects. Let’s not forget, these guys were way ahead of the curve on NIL. To steal from an old C&W song. “They were NIL when NIL wasn’t cool.”
