Bowl ticket application -

I received my bowl ticket application in the mail this week. It included information about Holiday (minimum) through NCG (maximum).
Our most likely destinations are priced as follows:
Fiesta: $155-255Â :)
Sugar: $120-180Â :)
Alamo: $35-105Â ???

Sugar cheaper than Fiesta? Really?

Suspect there are two reasons:
1) stadium in New Orleans is older and hence may have less debt, which allows them to charge less rent, in turn allowing them to charge less for tickets.
2) Since national championship game is in New Orleans, Sugar Bowl is the junior varsity event there and therefore less desirable, meaning less in terms of price.
Personally I favored New Orleans and Sugar even at equal prices, so I greatly prefer when the differential in ticket price is factored in.

Where are the seats for those price ranges?

There is no information on the seat location.
Tostito's Fiesta Bowl:
$255 $235 $190 $155
Allstate Sugar Bowl:
$180 $170 $150 $140 $120

Just a word of caution:
Lots of people who bought Orange Bowl tickets last year from Stanford wound up pretty unhappy with that decision, because by the week of the game, lots of very good seats were available on Stubhub at a fraction of the price charged by the participating schools.
I bought my tickets on Stubhub - maybe a week or so before the game - and paid about one-third as much as some friends whose seats were arguably in a worse location.
So if you're buying bowl tickets through Stanford, just be aware that you're likely paying a premium to support the athletics department. If you're looking for the best deal, I'd advise waiting until closer to the game.

A reason to root for Oklahoma. If OSU wins the Big 12, they will bring a very big crowd to Glendale, AZ. The Cowboys have never played in a BCS bowl. If the Sooners win the Big 12, their fans may not come in numbers that are as large as the OSU fans. OU has been to 3 of the last 5 Fiesta Bowls. May be some Fiesta Bowl fatigue. That would loosen up the secondary market.

I am pretty sure the secondary market will be loose if Stanford is in town.
My guess is that both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would do their part. Oklahoma probably has more fans than OK State, but OK State base would be more excited about the opportunity.
Since Stanford has a reputation for not doing a lot to fill the house, I will probably buy from the AD and suffer in seat quality. If Stanford has to fill its allotment by donating to local charities or otherwise gifting seats away, that will look bad. Whether the StubHub prices are $50 or $1000 would seem like a secondary image concern to me. In the last few years the Fiesta Bowl has seemed to have noticeable sections of empty seats, so I suspect the secondary market will be a viable option for those wanting to economize.
My guess is Stanford will travel better than last year's Big East representative, so it should be alright.
The Sugar Bowl almost always is packed because the SEC top tier teams travel well, and New Orleans is close for all of them. But if the Sugar has no SEC representative it could be different.
