Mike Ferrari - Hurlburt88 - 11-21-2023
I saw today on Facebook that Mike passed away. He has been away from The CardBoard for a while, yet many of us his remember his contributions. We will miss him!

Mike was a classmate of mine in undergrad school. I don’t think I ever met him, but we had some nice DM conversations when he was still on the board.
This made me think of another classmate, Malcolm Snider, whom I did get to know when we were in school, thanks to a pretty intense weekend program we were both at. He played on Ralston’s offensive line, made the All America squad, and was drafted in the third round by the Falcons. Played for them for three years, and then for the Packers for three years, then went to medical school and became an orthopedic surgeon. The last time I talked to him, he was playing for the Packers and was in town for a Monday night game against the 49ers. I asked him how he liked playing in Green Bay, and he said “It’s a great place to play when you’re winning.” I was inspired to look him up on Wikipedia and discovered he had died in early 2022. Very sad, though given the statistics we’ve been seeing lately, maybe he did well to make it to 74.

Very sorry to hear that. Malcolm epitomized the scholar athlete. I remember him when he was being recruited, and also when he missed a game to take the MCAT.

He did exemplify the scholar-athlete. He actually intended not to enter the draft but to go straight to medical school. But he was married, with a toddler, and decided it would be really nice not to be poor for a while and to be able to save money for med school while he played. The Falcons were one of the teams he *didn’t* tell about his intent not to play professionally. He started med school while still playing for the Packers, but realized he was on track to be a 40-year-old resident, so retired well before the team wanted him to, if I remember correctly.
