Sad news as Kneepkens is out for the year. Foot injury needs surgery

Really sad news for her and a brobdingnagian blow to Utah.

I agree.  These sorts of injuries are the curse of WBB and the single greatest drag on WBB popularity.  And on an individual level, they are tragedies.  I wonder if Kneepkens will use the additional redshirt year and plague us for even longer, or whether she will go pro at the normal time after a final Utah year?

That said, none of us should think for a minute that this makes Utah a much less competitive team.  Their remaining returning players and transfers still make them very dangerous, and they should be significantly favored when we go to Utah to play them on their court.  Of course, if we should beat them there, then all that could change ;)

I'm looking at Utah's team and individual stats and they're pretty INSANE!

As a team, shooting 55.4 FG% and 44.5 3Pt%

But look with wonder at their top 7 scorers:
PILI -                22.3 ppg @ 72.3 FG% and  14/26 3Pt for 53.8 3Pt%
KNEEPKENS - 17.8 ppg @ 63.3 FG% and  27/50 3Pt for 54.0 3Pt%
PALMER -       14.0 ppg @ 57.1 FG% and   9/16 3Pt for 56.3 3Pt%
ROSS -           10.0 ppg @ 65.9 FG% and 10/15 3Pt for 66.7 3Pt%
JOHNSON -     9.5 ppg  @ 56.6 PG% and   6/16 3Pt for 37.5 3Pt%
McQUEEN -     9.0 ppg  @ 52.1 FG% and  19/38 3Pt for 50.0 3Pt%
VIEIRA -           8.0 ppg  @ 54.8 FG% and  11/21 3Pt for 52.4 3Pt%

What is that?  I've never seen anything like that for a WCBB team!

I think we will find out a little more about how good Utah is when they play South Carolina this weekend.
Aside from the loss to Baylor, they have been running up brobdingnagian scores against cupcakes.

Yes, and it seems like Utah is an awful matchup for Stanford.  Too many good shooters requiring really good defense from all.  Stanford can defend inside assuming no serious foul trouble but I am not sure we can effectively defend the outside against someone like Utah.
