Top 10 Reasons I am Rooting for UW -
Snorlax94 - 01-08-2024
Pac 12 in its final year goes out in a blaze of glory.
#1) Root conference
#2) Root West Coast
#3) Friends/family live in Seattle or went to UW
#4) Tired of all the Harbaugh worship
#5) Penix/Odounze showcase how good the talent is/was in the Pac-12
#6) Penix's dominant, best-in-the-nation post-season performances draws attention to a certain running back's performance in the 2016 Rose Bowl. Now in the NFL, people ask, how did this guy not win the Voldemort? The answer being, the Voldemort is corrupt, SEC-biased bullshit.
#7) Penix and Odounze are so good, it's just fun to watch
#8) Like his spirit guide, Bill Belichick, Harbaugh is a sign-stealing cheater
#9) Cheaters are not "winners looking for any and every advantage." They are cheaters.
And the #10 reason I am rooting for the Huskies to win the national championship today:
If UW wins, by transitivity, Stanford was like the fifth best team in the nation last season
;-)

Go Blue. Harbaugh put stanford on the map again. Be a little thankful.

Rooting for UW, my dad's Alma mater. Make folks mourn the demise of the Pac 12, as I do.

UW was far from passive when it came to the demise of the Pac. Michigan scheduled an incredibly weak non-conference schedule, and then there's that cheating thing.
I was actually rooting for Alabama.

I too was rooting Pac-12 so go UW!
But once again, since time immemorial, Michigan proved yet again, if you can run the ball, and your opponent can’t, it’ll be a long night for them.

Yes, that is indeed true. UW could still have won the game if Penix was almost perfect and his receivers caught/held on to the ball. Unfortunately, neither was true tonight and that sealed their fate. Having to be "almost perfect" every game is just too much to ask or expect.

Penix not quite the same QB tonight because Michigan was able to pressure him. Offense wins games. Defense wins championships.
That's the 8th time in 10 years of the CFP that the team with a higher ranked defense won the NC game.

Yep.
The Michigan OL was easily the best group I saw this year in college football. They overpowered UW and that was that…

My message for Trojan Nation:
Dear Jerks,
You are now living in a really, really tough neighborhood--and you're now looking up at multiple superiors, including your old nemeses from the Conference you destroyed. They're waiting for you."Be Careful What You Wish For", twits. And while you're at it, don't forget to "fight on".
On a brighter note, Thanks again to the Maji: Bob Bowlsby, Jim Harbaugh and Andrew Luck. In that order.

Hardballs use the same formula at Michigan that he used at Stanford. Strength & Conditioning Coach was the foundation.

It would have been helpful if 73 played like the two year starter he is instead of playing like a true frosh seeing the field for the first time. Between false starts and holding, his is worst OL performance possible. One snap, he never moved until the DT went past him. I think that was the play where Penix got hurt.

And just like when he was here, it looks like now that he has reached the level of success he thought was possible at Michigan he'll go back to the NFL.
When he was at Stanford it was clear to many in football that he was at Stanford to build that resume to then move up ASAP!
Who had it better than us (Harbaugh) back in 2010? Nobody!!!
Well, accept those head coaches in the NFL. ;)
When he announced that Stanford players were "Champions" after winning the Orange Bowl it was depressingly clear he would leave soon.
Now in 2024 at Michigan he will forever be known as the Michigan Man that got the University of Michigan an undisputed national title, at least until they have to vacate the thing. Even if they ultimately vacate the title he will be a legend in Ann Arbor and around the Michigan for giving them all the fond memories of January 8 2024.
And yet, while the family cheer is, "Who has it better than us (a.k.a. me)?....Nobody!" The real answer is....his brother.
So look for Jim to take another shot at becoming a Super Bowl champ since dealing with unrealistic NIL dreams, and constant transfer portal threats is probably not much better than dealing with pros, and their agents, in the NFL.
The rumor mill seems set for a few NFL destinations with better weather and good QBs, so I guess we will see soon enough.
Those that yearn for the EUTM era and actually believe Harbaugh would have ever stayed beyond 2011 or 2012 are nuts. Thankful we got the EUTM boost, but also thankful we got multiple conference titles and Rose Bowl wins with someone that was a bit more loyal to The Farm.
If you stay too long you will inevitably see the downside slope too even is happening to the true football GOAT..Belichick.
I bet Harbaugh doesn't risk that and opts to jump while right at the peak.

Right now, IMO Harbaugh can do whatever he wants. There are many at Michigan that would rather he leave. They have their reasons, some of which are IMO valid. However, nobody is going to dare to oppose his continued employment. He probably can even demand a new contract at a "premium" salary and get it. However, for both Michigan and Harbaugh personally there are problems ahead. The "cheating" scandal is not, IMO, the biggest one in JH's mind. The problem is the NCAA has claimed JH lied to them. The NCAA has demanded he admit that he lied and apologize (more or less). JH has refused. I believe that this is a "big deal" for him. He really doesn't want to admit he lied.
If the NCAA holds firm to this and demands he admit to the "facts", he may continue to refuse. IMO this is the impediment that may cause JH to elect going to the NFL right now. He is as "hot" a property as he will ever be right now. Any controversy with the NCAA will just take more of the "shine" off him. If he is going to go, now is the time, not next year when a "show cause" letter may result from refusing to admit wrongdoing. Just not worth the risk. I agree that JH wants to eventually win a Super Bowl. If there were no clouds on the horizon, he might defer that ambition to "later". Since that isn't the case, going now makes the most sense.

"There are many at Michigan that would rather he leave." Goose, you can say that again. He's worn out his welcome in a number of ways. And I'm sure the Titans, Raiders, Chargers, Panthers, Falcons, and Commanders would be more than happy to loosen the purse strings. Belichick makes $25 mms., Payton is at $18m, and Carroll, McVay and Shanahan are between $14m and $15m. I think Harbaugh's deal with Michigan puts him at $12.5m (John Harbaugh is at $12m). My guess is JimH commands $20m from a desperate NFL team who will fire him less than five years into the contract, especially when free agents won't go to play for him.
Incidentally, I'm a little bummed that the Commanders fired ex-Bear Ron Rivera. I played ball against him in high school. Just a really good guy. His dad was a chief warrant officer at Fort Ord, served 32 years including two tours in Vietnam.

Me too. While I don't know him personally, he seemed to be a class act when he was working for a very bad owner and also exceeded expectations in both places where he had teams that had distinct manpower limitations. He has been coach of the year a couple of times and has often "done more with less". Don't know where he will land. Some on the Kal site hope that somehow he can, at least for a while, become associated with Kal football.
