MBB at Oregon State espn2 - old spanish trail - 01-11-2024

Bynum out with lower body injury. M Jones with 3 straight 3's. Carlyle with 2. Keefe stuffffed under the basket. Stan lead 27-23 with 8 min left in first half.

Ooops, Carlyle trying to do too much.

Carlyle and Stojakovic both brilliant at times. But also bring some turnovers along with that brilliance.

At the Half we’re down 5 to OSU
Who has a losing PAC-12 record so far
I hope we are not a turning point to help OSU get towards a winning record
I’d rather we be taking it to them to keep them losing
But what I want is pretty much immaterial at this point in the Haasian era

Could be worse. Utah destroyed UCLA 90-44 tonight. 2nd worst loss in school history. Only worse loss? 1997 vs. Stanford 109-61.

RE: MBB at Oregon State espn2 - SkiBum80 - 01-11-2024

Down by double digits in 2nd half
Unless miraculous turnaround we will end tonight with losing conference & losing overall record, and the common word in there is losing
The big win over UCLA is quickly fading to insignificance

And who is this Spencer Jones imposter and what did you do with the real Spencer Jones?

Has he taken any shots? I believe he had a hand injury a couple games ago. Maybe still?

I’m on east coast
So I tuned out for bed when down 10 in 2nd half, and already late here
Silly me

Sort of a reversal from the ASU game.
Anyway nice to get the W.

Yes, beating the 124th ranked team (per Massey) in OT is a real badge of honor... It's kind of hard to overstate just how bad the Pac-12 is. I think 3 tourney teams is a very realistic possibility. Against that landscape, us being tied for the 4th best team in the conference (3-2 so far) actually makes sense, but also says very little about whether we are actually any good.

Nobody is claiming we are a great team based on this victory. Merely pointing out that a W is better than a L.

Does anyone know what Murrell's status is?  And I am personally surprised Agrawal is getting no minutes, but maybe I shouldn't be . . .

Murrell is reported out with a head injury. I infer concussion protocol, but that is not confirmed. It must be more than a mild injury. He has missed the last 4-5 games.

Regardless of the outcome or the quality of the opponent, this is the most watchable Stanford team in a while for 2 reasons - Carlyle and Stojakovic. Both have offensive skills that Stanford has lacked for a long time. They can beat their man off the dribble and attack the basket. They can make tough shots in traffic. They are creators. Let's enjoy it while we can.

it is great to have multiple "go to" options at ends of games, halves, shot clock, etc.!
