Not surprisingly, the Stanford men's volleyball team has risen to #4 in the most recent AVCA/NVA National Collegiate MVB Poll. Top 10 as follows:
1. Long Beach State (has received all 23 first place votes, they're 7-0)
2. Grand Canyon
3. Hawaii
4. Stanford
5. UCLA
6. Ohio StateĀ
7. UC Irvine
8. Penn State
9. BYU
10. Pepperdine
USC is tied with UC SB for 12th.

Mick, Stanford lost to CSUN last night, playing without Alex and Will Rottman. Any idea what's going on?

I could only speculate, but since it was the Rottmans and they missed both matches, I'd suppose it was a family commitment which prevented them from participating.
First match was a 3-1 Stanford win. Stanford didn't play particularly well, but won handily. And Northridge was only 5-4 coming into the match. Both teams hit about the same, .235 to .232. Stanford only had 40 collective errors in the four set match, while Northridge had 61. Northridge had a ton of serving errors, Stanford had far fewer.
Was Stanford a little overconfident going into the second match? Maybe. Northridge had far fewer hitters and improved their hitting greatly. Stanford hit .264, Northridge hit .383. In the first match, Stanford had 10 aces to Northridge's one. In the second match, Northridge
