MBB - Stanford at Arizona - Spiny_Norman - 02-04-2024

Stanford playing Arizona on national TV (FS1) right now.

Cardinal leading 45-34 at the half. Playing without Carlyle (no reason given, though he is with the team on the bench just not dressed to play). Raynaud had a career half with 21 1st half points, including three 3s. Michael Jones has 16 including four 3s. Gealer has 6 assists and NO turnovers so far.

Anyone watching this amazing game? For one half, at least, we are more than toe to toe with Arizona at McHale.  Reneau is playing out of this world. (Unfortunately like a high draft choice ) entire team playing well and without Carlyle .

At least for a half, we are great.

This game is teed up for a classic Hasse team late game let down.  I hope not but . . .

According to this article, Carlyle "suffered an unspecified upper body injury on Thursday at ASU" :

Last game Carlyle played briefly in the second half, and then I saw him sitting amongst the coaches for the rest of the game while cradling his right arm.

Cue the apathy.

RE: MBB vs Arizona - PVTree - 02-05-2024

Unable to sustain a great first half in the second half. Went from 11 up to losing by 11. The 3 point shot abandoned our shooters in the last 20 minutes.

What had happened to Bynum? Is the injury he suffered still lingering? He looks nothing like the player that started the season.

Every game is one game closer.

RE: MBB vs Arizona - SkiBum80 - 02-05-2024

We have (slightly) winning record & conference record & respectable pac position. Yet NET rank is only 100 and our quad 1 is an unimpressive 1-2. So yeah feels right now more like same old rather than a surge into the dance.

RE: MBB vs Arizona - Hurlburt88 - 02-05-2024

I really like the players on this team!  Feels like injury bug biting us a bit:  Bynam, S Jones, Murrell, and now Carlyle.

But the overall results remain too disappointing.   And the system of dribble one direction, stop, pick up ball, and THEN look for a pass is driving me nuts!
