Of course the announcers noted how much Ingram has improved "since his transfer from Stanford". That's Ryan's best game of the year. He's usually in the 9-14 points range.

Speaking of 2 blasts from the past...I just saw a State Farm commercial featuring The Lopi (with Jake).

Harrison Ingram has a solid enough game -- 12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and two steals -- but his team falls just short as Alabama moves along.

Hmm....... now Alabama and Clemson will play in a regional final with the winner advancing to the Final Four.  As if dominating college football over recent years wasn't enough.......

Meanwhile, this board has become a women's BB focus area.

You say that as if it were a bad thing?

It means our men's major sports are not relevant at the moment.  Is that a good thing?

Or it means more people are discovering that WBB is entertaining as MBB. College WBB games have more of the top rated games this season than MBB games. Possibly time to set aside old tropes and biases...

Huh? Wishing future success and increased interest for Stanford men’s sports is a bias we should put aside on a Stanford sports board?  SMH

Two things can be equally true here - we can celebrate the major sports (I include Tara’s team here) and celebrate other Stanford teams and athletes. Lamenting the fall from prominence of men’s hoops is completely appropriate and doesn’t denigrate the decades long success of women’s basketball one whit.

Stanford sports fandom is not a zero sum game where support for one sport must fall for another to rise.  This is almost the Cardboard’s founding principle and what we’ve ALWAYS done well here.

And Michael O'Connell is in the final four.  A great of example of how poorly he was coached at Stanford, to say nothing of the others.

Honestly, I'm really happy for MOC. He played a great defensive(!) game today and was more than solid handling the ball. Plus, he has turned into an iron man for NC State: after averaging about 25 minutes a game during the regular season, he's averaging 38.8 minutes a game in the tourney. Truly, he's a leader on a team that will always be legendary on Tobacco Road.

RE: MBB: two blasts from the past - norcard10 - 03-31-2024

So that makes MOC, Ingram, Cormac Ryan as three Stanford players who did well in the NCAA tournament.  The talent was certainly there.

RE: MBB: two blasts from the past - PVTree - 03-31-2024

In retrospect, would we have been better off with MOC than Bynum this year? Bynum was not a consideration in the last few games despite the need for a steady point guard in some games.

Obviously, Carlyle has a lot more upside, but he played out of control for most of the last ten games trying to help the team.

Keeping with the theme, 2 blasts from the P12 past, MOC and Horne, help the WPack into the FF for the first time since Valvano roamed the sideline.

MOC would not have made this team relevant IMO.  Haase would have wasted him as usual.
