SEC and NIL - lex24 - 09-11-2024

I don’t know if this is true – and I’m too lazy to look it up. But I was told that the average NIL for an SEC starting quarterback is more than Brock Purdy’s salary…..

Auburn needs a refund.

A quick check shows Purdy's salary at around $1 million, and yes, most SEC quarterbacks are in excess of that.

Understandable. Purdy's only been to the Super Bowl, he hasn't won it yet.

And I suspect that next year's negotiations will address that little fact. If Dax Prescott is worth 4 years, $60 million per year, what's Purdy worth?

Yep. This is all according to On3's NIL database. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/nfl-star-brock-purdy-made-less-money-this-year-than-16-college-football-players-e057319b

Story in this morning's Chron says the Auburn QB is getting "requests" for payment by disgruntled bettors. Do they not fundamentally understand what gambling is?

Canady is making about what Purdy makes, which makes zero market sense to me.

LOL, never make your Venmo handle public or searchable?

Quote:Canady is making about what Purdy makes, which makes zero market sense to me.

And this is why the NWSL is getting rid of their draft, among other things.

Purdy has to prove himself. Pretty soon, he'll make 250 times what Canady makes. And if Purdy made, at Iowa State, what the current Iowa State QB makes, it would be $212k (approx.).

What kills me is that Shadeur makes $4.7 million. His NIL deal is the highest.

Some college kids are surefire bets...many, many others are not.  The willingness/risk tolerance of some boosters to pour this kind of money into individuals is right up there with gambling.

Or other addictions

Nijaree Canady is the surest NIL bet I've ever seen.

No argument there.  It's interesting how FSU is struggling given that they've collected a bunch of transfers (who were theoretically skilled enough for FSU boosters to bet on).

Only question is, who's going to win the Canady auction next season?
