My son and I are going. We were told no Stanford tailgate for this game.

RE: Stanford @Syracuse - ADPinWDC - 09-16-2024

Should be great weather Friday night... Oh, the Dome.
Well we get the ESPN national TV spot at 7:30pm ET.

Orangie favored by about 10.
They held on to beat GTEC, and handled Ohio Univ before that.
With QB McCord and able wideouts, they throw the ball well, which will create problems for us.

A couple of classmates and I will be there…taking a train up tomorrow from NYC. There is a tailgate in the Sky-something parking lot but details are in the hands of someone more dedicated than I. I will investigate.

Please report back.  Would love to meet in person.  I will stop by Fidens in Albany which is what the beergnoscenti consider the best maker of IPAs in the world so I will come bearing beer.  (Fidens is great but I consider Root+Branch in Long Island, the best maker of IPAs or beer period)

Spent a ton of time at Dinosaur during the 90's. Fun place, really good BBQ. Not sure they're to die for, but they are good.

Everything at the Dinosaur is good, not just the ribs. Totally agree it is a great place to eat, and has been for quite a while now.

And for the intellectuals, great philosophical musings penned on the wall above the urinals. . . .

Just registered!  I will look for you CowboyIndian.   Dinosaur BBQ is already on the agenda.  When I lived in NYC, I used to frequent its outpost in Harlem.  Best ribs I've had outside Memphis.

Ate at Dinosaur tonight. Very good but not the best I’ve had. Also…not a beef rib in sight, which is triggering for me. Definitely worthy of a meal, though.

Beef ribs (done right) run circles around pork ribs.

RE: Stanford @Syracuse - cardcrimson - 09-19-2024

Lived in Syracuse for 6 years, and probably went to Dinosaur at least a couple times a month. Knew it well. Moved to Nashville and then Huntsville, AL, and found the ribs in Alabama to be fabulous. Two great places (chains, now, I guess) are Big Bob Gibson's, famous for their Alabama white sauce, and Lawler's, famous for their hot BBQ sauce. Both very different. Both fantastic. If you're ever there, give them a shot. The sauce is available online, as well. Alabama white sauce is truly unique. Local tip, I used to mix Big Bob Gibson's white sauce with a little of Lawler's hot sauce to give my ribs a little kick. Amazing. . ..

Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, been to the original spot once. Must have been a bad day. Same with Rendezvous in Memphis . ..

RE: Stanford @Syracuse - qwerty49 - 09-19-2024

Continuing the thread hijack….

Oklahoma Joe’s in KC Mo (the original site was a former gas station) got me thru 5yrs of commuting to KC from SoCal. Wed was burnt ends day.

Sonny Bryan’s, in an open field halfway between Dallas and Ft Worth, was worth the drive, if you didn’t mind eating on the hood of your car. Lots of small planes constantly landing in the open field and taxiing over to pickup a “to go” order.

Flint’s in Oakland and Carson’s in Chicago make my list, just barely.

RE: Stanford @Syracuse - Mick - 09-20-2024

I didn't much care for Michigan cuisine when I lived there, but if you find yourself in midtown Detroit, Slows Bar-B-Q To Go serves up excellent baby back ribs, five sauces, all vinegar-tangy. Slows' main restaurant is in Corktown (northeast of downtown), across Michigan Avenue from the old art deco train station.

A block and a half away from Slows To Go is Selden Standard, for my money the best restaurant in Detroit (and around the corner from my house). It would fit nicely into the farm-to-table Palo Alto restaurant scene. Serves up extraordinary lamb ribs. Mrs. Mick (of Croatian descent, loves lamb and is a superb chef) approves.

All y'all just need to come down to Texas for a while, just saying.  Wish I could be up there!  I hope our OL shows up too.
