FB -- Other Games Week 6 - martyup - 10-05-2024
I just turned on College Football Game Day and saw that today's location is Berkeley. I threw up a little in my mouth.

Last night Syracuse beat #25 ranked UNLV in OT. This was UNLV's first loss. I guess that's good for Stanford.
On CGD, Stanford Steve Coughlin wore a Stanford sweatshirt and the weenies started chanting "take it off, take it off . . . " Then a clip of him catching a pass in the 1999 Big Game was shown and he told the story of beating Cal and going to the Rose Bowl. Then Steve said that all of the weenies were only there because they didn't get into Stanford. The crowd went wild with boos. Then Nick Saban asked Steve why if Stanford was so great did he have a girlfriend that went to Cal. Steve replied with the old joke that 9 out of 10 girls in CA are beautiful, and the other one goes to Stanford. That won't endear him to women in general and Stanford women specifically.

Then Rece Davis announced that the comments made by Stanford Steve do not necessarily reflect the opinions and the evaluations of all of us here on the College Day Day set. We sincerely apologize to all of the lovely women who grace the farm at Stanford.

You’ve got to give it to the Cal fans, and frankly, I’m all for it. They turned out big time for gameday.
Feel free to disagree, but with the move to the ACC, I feel like there is more of a bond between the two California schools. Seeing Cal fans turn out is awesome. I just wish Stanford fans turned out and cared more. And Cal isn’t even good.

I'm glad the Cal fans showed up in force for CGD. Good for them, irregardless of the fact that CAL SUCKS!

I don't know much about Vandy football, but I know their top WR last year, Will Sheppard, transferred to play at Colorado. I promise not to panic the next time Stanford loses a top player to the portal. It's going to happen, and it sucks! But it isn't the end of the world, either.

UCLA lost to Penn State today 27-11 - no surprise as they were 28-1/2 point underdogs. But in doing so they accomplished something unprecedented. They are apparently the only Big 10 team ever to lose their first 3 conference games. I salute them with an eight-clap.
