First to be fired: Mike Houston, head coach of East Carolina University, after 5.5 years on the job (two winning seasons, 27-38 total record for 41.5 win percentage, 15-28 conference record for 34.9 conference win percentage)
I will be interested to see if any coaches get canned during/after their second year on the job.
Also fired Oct. 20: Will Hall, head coach of Southern Mississippi. Hall was head coach for 3.5 seasons (one winning season, 14-30 total record, 8-10 conference record).
Also on Oct. 20, Oklahoma fired its first-year offensive coordinator and Utah accepted the resignation of its longtime offensive coordinator.

At this point, I’d bet on Purdue’s Ryan Walters and UAB’s Trent Dilfer being the most likely victims among second-year HCs.

Mike Leach has passed away and it appears the Air Raid has died with him. Littrell was a total failure in Norman. Lincoln Riley could be the next Leach disciple on the chopping block.

How about the new LoseCLA coach? He may be a legacy but there must be some restlessness with the season they're having. Ruin fans have a sense of grandeur because of what their basketball team was 50 years ago.

Foster is a train wreck but it’s year one and they just beat Rutgers. He’s not getting fired this year.

Kenni Burns at Kent State went 1-11 and is now 0-7 so far this season, but he signed an extension (LOL) and probably won't be fired.

Norvell at FLST makes $10M a year... and might get tarred feathered before the season is over.
Picked to win the ACC preseason, Seminoles have imploded.

Just might be the first casualty of NIL--early season stories about the FSU locker room mentioned the toxicity between the NIL haves, and the NIL haves not as much. . . .

Read somewhere that Norvell's buyout after this year is $64 million. Can't say I'm shedding any tears over their predicament. How cool would it be if they somehow wind up in the Sunbelt?

I didn't update this thread after I felt certain that TT would return, but this caught my eye about the firing of Tulsa's coach:
Quote:Tulsa fired football coach Kevin Wilson on Sunday after he fell to 7-16 in his two seasons at the school following a 63-30 loss at USF on Saturday.
Wilson's team lost nine games by more than 30 points over two seasons.
Troy Taylor has lost seven games by 30 or more points over two seasons (if you add in SMU, a 30-point loss, the total is eight). His record is 6-17.
Progress? I think most objective observers would have to say yes. But a blowout loss against San Jose State would really squelch that narrative.
Stanford must regroup and show up to play on Friday, or the voices calling for TT to be fired will have a very credible argument.
In 2023:
Stanford 10
USC 56
Stanford 6
Oregon 42
Stanford 7
UCLA 42
Stanford 17
Oregon State 62
Stanford 23
Notre Dame 56
In 2024:
Stanford 7
Notre Dame 49
Stanford 10
SMU 40
Stanford 28
NC State 59

The AAC is experiencing a rash of terminations. Of the fourteen schools in the conference, six have fired the head football coach - Florida Atlantic, East Carolina, Tulsa, Charlotte, Rice and Temple. Three of those schools terminated the coach before the end of his second season, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte and Tulsa.

My guess is that Norvell gets one year to turn things around, but if that doesn't happen he is shown the door.
Unfortunately (to quote the FSU AD) "We don't have a Phil Knight"
