Maverick McNealy - Scooter_Stepford - 11-24-2024

Congratulations to Maverick McNealy!  He recorded his first PGA Tour victory today.  He had to battle on the back nine, but hit a fantastic approach shot to 5’ on the 18th hole and made the birdie putt to beat three others by one shot.

It’s been a long time coming (partially due to a number of injuries), but now that he’s got one maybe a run of good health and the residual confidence of winning will lead to many others.

Yes, it was a great comeback after dropping a stroke behind.  Another plus was all the other Stanford guys in the top 50. Thorbjornson was 8th, Rodgers 17, Bramlett 35 and Wu 49.  Unfortunately, I think Brameltt lost his card I think and will have to play his way back the hardway next season.
I thought Rodgers would beat McNealy to the winners circle but iit never happened.

First Stanford alum not named Tiger to win a PGA tournament since Notah Begay in 2000. Mike Thorbjornsen should be the next. Congrats to Maverick and enjoy the trips to Maui and Augusta.
