2024 Stanford vs. San Jose State Predictions Thread - george - 11-26-2024

Can we get to 4 wins?  Would that be a sign of progress?

RE: 2024 Stanford vs. San Jose State Predictions Thread - SkiBum80 - 11-27-2024

Regardless the outcome of this last game, Coach TT could try to gaslight us all by claiming vast improvement...
..in regards to his FCS opponent results.
"Look, last year we were 0-1 and this year we flipped it to 1-0!"
Unless this game turns into a blowout win for us, which I doubt, then I am skeptical, win or lose, on contrasting much difference this year to last.
Seems more like arguing whether the number of angels dancing on the head of a pin is 99 or 100.
But OK, I'm a Lifer, too late to redo the past, too late to, say, suddenly go to grad school at, what, maybe SMU?
So yeah, I'll robotically chant: Let's Go Card!
Even while I pick SJSU to win, because I'm trying to win the, you know, valuable contest prizes.

I rate the game a tossup, but if I had to I'd probably pick SJS given Stanford's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

While 4-7 might not be much of an improvement from 3-8, it at least gives TT the opportunity to sell it as such.

Might be slightly unfair, given the roster that Harbaugh inherited from Wlat, but still -- EUTM managed a 4-8 season in his second year here, without Luck. Can TT equal this?  He should. Spartans are 2.5 pt. favorites "at home," which is practically a non-issue. It's an occasion that Stanford should rise to. Do they have it in 'em to make a statement?

Harbaugh went 5-7 in 2008.  He beat Oregon State, SJSU, Washington, Arizona, and WSU; he lost to ASU, TCU, Notre Dame, UCLA, Oregon, USC, and Cal.

Very tough game to predict. I knew Stanford was more motivated than Louisville and as equally motivated as Kal.

Traditionally, San Jose State has circled games against Stanford and played their best. But this San Jose State team has to be somewhat deflated, playing tough against ranked Boise State and UNLV teams but falling short.

So, while I think Stanford is not going to be able to match the intensity they showed against Louisville and Kal, I don't think San Jose State is going to play their best, either.

In the end, I like the match-up for Stanford, as April has shown that he can usually call-up a good scheme against pass-happy teams. I don't have as much faith in Stanford's offense, but I think Ashton Daniels again avoids the big mistake and the team does just enough. Stanford 24 San Jose State 21.

Wish I could say something upbeat about Daniels. I've seen too much of him to believe at this point that he can carry the day. What I've seen is a sub-par QB behind inferior linemen. Hope that the Spartans are indisposed.

With Troy at the helm, Stanford will put together a winning strategy and find a way to beat the Spartans.  I predict Stanford 21 San Jose 14.

Yeah, like he found a way to blow a 21-7 lead in Berkeley?

Deflated?  Have our dear Cardinal deflated after the WAY we lost at KAL.  Stanford playing for what?
Bill Walsh Legacy Trophy.   Brilliant Bill Walsh is / was The Genius -- but finished 4-7 and 3-7-1 in 1993 and 1994.
Spartans QB Eget outduels us in Q4... just as KAL did.   SAD. Purgatory at 3-9.
SJST likely gets an Arizona Bowl bid on Dec. 28.
