Oof. Good thing I don't have much of that silly conference pride yet.

Very happy to see Louisville lose after they stole (or were given) a win against us.
Only Duke left. I was rooting against Duke for decades before Stanford joined the ACC, and that's not changing now.

[edited to fix my seeding mixup -- thanks cardcrimson!]
Louisville was an 8-seed losing to Creighton as a 9-seed, which isn't unforeseeable. Clemson as a 5-seed however...not quite sure they expected to lose to 12-seeded McNeese State, whose coach will be headed to NC State next season.
Regarding that coach...
Quote:LSU fired Wade on the eve of the NCAA tournament back in 2022 after the school received a notice of allegations from the NCAA detailing five Level I violations and a Level II violation involving Wade. He was also suspended shortly before the 2019 NCAA tournament after reports revealed that a federal wiretap captured him discussing a "strong-ass offer" for a recruit.
He was ultimately given a two-year show-cause order and a 10-game suspension in June 2023 for three Level I violations, after being found to have made impermissible payments to the former fiancee of a player, while also failing to cooperate in an investigation and failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance.

Not that it matters much, but Creighton was the 9 seed, Louisville the 8. . . .Still, not a good look for the ACC.

Excellent second round tiffs.
#10 ARK vs #2 STJN
Kalipari vs Pitino. Boom.
#11 DRAK vs #3 TTEC
Drake could do it
#9 CREI to take down #1 AUBN?
Possible on neutral court.
#6 BYU vs #3 WISC
-- Battle for the tanning lotion,
WISC survives ... in OT?
#8 ZAGS vs #1 HOUS
Cougs too much, but I like Coach Mark Few
#8 CONN vs #1 FLOR
Committee deliberately seeded last year's Champ against possible Champ this year.
#7 UCLA vs #2 TENN?
Vols sometimes can't sink a bucket; Mild upset potential for Bruins.
Taking down #2 TENN helps #1 HOUS in that MW region
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/schedule/_/date/20250323
Do all the #1s and #2s get to Regional Finals?
#1 AUBN might succumb to CREI if Broome got into foul trouble
#2 STJN's is over seeded, and can lose to DRAK
Ditto #2 MIST; they will get stuffed by IAST, which is a tougher team
#2 BAMA will crush Grant's dreams with #7 MARY
#12 Cindy MCNE could thump PURD to get #1 HOUS -- that becomes interesting.
So, I think two of the #2s and one of the #1s could not make the Final Four.
DUKE, HOUS, FLOR are rolling -- AUBN could get tripped up...

Sweet Sixteen filled completely by Big 4 conferences
SEC 7
Big Ten 4
Big 12 4
ACC 1

Duke is about 44% to win the title according to draftkings after normalizing for the vig. (Florida - 23%; Houston - 18%; Auburn - 15%)
They had their skeptics due to their conference strength of schedule but Duke appears to have become truly transcendent above their in-season competition. In the regional finals they faced the #4 offense in the nation in Alabama and stopped it cold in its tracks. The 106-70 bath they treated us to on their home court looks a little bit better, heheh.

Dook (ACC) goes down couging it against the Cougars (another version).
I thought Dook was going to win it all and am happy to see them fall short. Both semis were very good games. The final (Houston vs Florida) should be equally exciting. I'll give the edge to Florida.

Great to see Duke lose. That said, I'm stunned by Cooper Flagg. The dude is only 18 and a few months. Barely 18 with a late December birthday, he should be still in high school, yet he's dominating college hoops.

Duke-Houston was one helluva finish.
