OK, this is the most ridiculous snub - washingtonismoney - 12-08-2011

David DeCastro just lost the Outland Trophy, awarded to the nation's best interior lineman, to Barrett Jones. Jones played left tackle this season.

CONCLUSION: awards voters, idiots.

But Luck wins the Maxwell Award.

Generally, I consider centers, guards, defensive tackles, and nose tackles to be interior linemen, right?  Left and right tackles or defensive ends, maybe not so much.

Offensive tackles are interior linemen, as the term is usually used -- and more importantly, as it has been interpreted in giving the Outland Trophy.  The last four offensive winners of the Outland are all tackles.

Well, guess I've been served a drop of knowledge. My bad! Assumed interior linemen were guards, centers, and nose tackles/defensive tackles.

Still, De Castro should've won.

Don't be ridiculous. He doesn't have SEC speed and he didn't play against SEC defenses....or Kent State, Georgia Southern or North Texas, for that matter.

Relevant to this discussion, it appears Todd McShay has a similar definition of "Interior Linemen" to WIM:

Quote:DeCastro isn't a sexy pick, but he's by far the best interior lineman in the 2012 class and ready to be an NFL starter right now.

McShay projects Luck going #1 and Martin going #12 to Kansas City (http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft2012/story/_/page/McShayMock1.0/2012-nfl-mock-draft-quarterbacks-rule-todd-mcshay-initial-first-round-projection)
