I wonder what effect moving part of the student section to the sunny side will be? It will not be as hot as it was in the Old Lady, but it will definitely be warmer than where they were. Of course if all our games start late in the day there will be no net change. Why they think the students will bother the visiting team from what is essentially the end zone is beyond me, but whatever.

As someone who has been in the front row of 101 for 15 years this is bullshit.

I liked being in 101.  I liked being near the tunnel for when the players came out.  If I'm being selfish it's a spot that got me on TV a lot and I brought a lot of signs to encourage that further.  I didn't mind the sign, I liked 101.

Luck says the students are out most spirited fans.  Really?  Good luck with games with first half of September when they haven't fulled arrived; good luck with games in November if the team is bad and they don't show up.  Maybe he's remembering what it was like when he was a student, but it sure as shit ain't like that no more.  And as others pointed out, the students will be nowhere near the visiting bench, so that's a moronic reason.

They probably had trouble selling seats around the tunnel.  101 certainly got emptier in recent years.  So now they want to move the students to seats they can't fill and attempt to sell the shadier seats in the 105 corner.  What a joke.

and based on current season ticket pricing the sideline seats on the shady side will cost more than the ones on the sunny side (corner seats are the same price on each side of the stadium), although I would guess there will be no price adjustment this year and maybe not in the future for people forced to move as a sign of good will by the AD....

They're having trouble selling seats anywhere in the stadium.

I suspect this is more about optics for TV, having SOMEONE sitting on the sunny side instead of just empty stands and having cheering fans around the team entering/exiting the field.

Those sunny side seats are also in the background during a lot of the broadcast, so having them empty all game long was a bad look.   The students may or may not show up but at least the school can put LSJUMB in some of those seats.    

Another benefit is that when the band was on the shady side it was really hard to hear the band if you were in almost any area of the shady side's upper tier.   Moving LSJUMB will allow more alums to see and hear the band, which hopefully will improve the stadium environment. 

Moving people around will never make everyone happy, but this is something the program needed to try given the projected win-loss record this season.

FWIW the team's schedule does not really have any daytime games, so I suspect the worries about the wok will not really be an issue.

Base on a lot of comments here I suspect that a lot of shady siders would prefer to not be able to hear the band (I'm a sunny sider and yes an "older alum" and like the band, although given how small it has become they are less entertaining)
