This new world of pay for play in college athletics does present the opportunity for Schools of Business throughout the country to develop all sorts of models, AI base algorithms---revenge of the nerds in real time, board games and dartboards.

So did we invest/pay any money to go find a QB in the portal in the offseason or any player upgrades for that matter? I just don't think the slow, steady rebuild is gonna work when time is not on our side. You're either relevant today in FBS football or not and we currently are not. It's going to take a lot of money poured into the program, investment in better players, coaches, better facilities, the whole experience. Has any of that happened yet since Luck other than a little more excitement in general about him being back trying to turn this around? How has the money component changed if at all since Luck?

I think about the final demise of Stanford football (don't snicker, it's closer than we want to believe) in the same way the Hemingway character described "the speed of bankruptcy" in
The Sun Also Rises: "It happens gradually, and then suddenly." Depressing to think about for sure, but, if oblivious arrogance is the key ingredient in this case then there is sure as hell no shortage of it in the Stanford community. I mean, look at how this cluster*** arrived in the first place.
