Right -- CLEM with two losses.
They gotta beat FLST now to meet MIAM in ACC Finale. [likely]
#5 MIAM and #10 FLST meet on Oct 4, decisive matchup.

UCLA is perhaps even more of a hot mess than Stanford. 0-3 even before they start the conference season. Their very expensive transfer QB has been ordinary and their defense can't stop anyone.
Northwestern fans are suffering as well. After today's loss to Oregon, Stewart Mandel (and Northwestern alum) tweeted:
Quote:The next time Northwestern hires a coach it really needs to be an offensive mind. B/c this is about the 10th straight year of absolute misery on that side of the ball.
Remember this quote when Pat Fitzgerald's name comes up as a candidate for Stanford's HC job.

So many blowouts today; not my cup of tea. The Florida-LSU game seems to be pretty good. At the half: LSU 13, Florida 10.
UCLA blown out by New Mexico last night? In the Rose Bowl, no less. Schadenfreude.

Schadenfreude Alert! #8 Domers fall to #16 Texas A&M, 41-40!

This might be the best Kal team in more than two decades. They will be favorites in every game moving forward more than likely and their QB is absolutely astonishing for a freshman.

Thanks BC. Good college sports weekend at the household with GT, Stanford, Cal, Navy, and UVA all winning. Something gives next week in Charlottesville but I'll be in the Wahoo student section hoping to be smug at the end of the night.
The noon ESPN game Saturday was a fantastic game outside of half of South Carolina. Hopefully as Dabo said, LSU and Tech are good teams. It certainly wasn't lost on me that the Tigers had won nine in a row over us in mostly uncompetitive games and as recently as five years ago, with a merciful 11,000 in attendance at Bobby Dodd due to COVID restrictions, Clemson scored 66 consecutive points to break open a 7-7 game. I think Trevor Lawrence had something like 5 TDs and every Tech fan remembers the 404 passing yards like it was taking a swipe at Geoff Collins' marketing (and he wasn't anything more than that). At one point, they had their punter under center and he was slinging it, while the announcers laughed. "Clemson and a bunch of pretenders."
So, that was satisfying. A 55 yard walk off field goal with the clock running down. Not a fluke and it feels like Tech has brought itself up more than Clemson has fallen back to earth. And the biggest deal was thinking Tech was going to win after Clemson tied it with 3 minutes and change, rather than lose. Fun team to watch. Might be down there for my 40th in late October.
We flipped back and forth between Cal and Stanford before my blood pressure finally came down from earlier in the day and I passed out. Cal looks legit.

I just watched the ~12 min summary of the kal-Minn game (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6HzbzVoBxo).
kal's QB has arm strength and delivery speed that helps him make good decisions with less reliance on anticipation. But he still makes freshman mistakes right now. He thinks he's faster than he is, and he took a few sacks trying to roll out of the pocket.
kal's defense is fast. They blew up a couple of Minn trick plays, so their read/react times are good. Misdirection plays seem to work though. Both teams scored TDs on goal line heavy formations that ended up being play action tosses (kal RB to the right flat, Minn TE released a double team block and leaked into the end zone on a fade).
kal's OL can be had. When kal was trying to run out the clock at the end, Minnesota was able to get through the OL for TFLs. Of course, the Gophers were down by 10+ pts iirc, so all for naught. Speed, swim moves, etc got them through.
kal's run defense might not be very good. They gave up 130 yds to Minnesota even while, as reported, Minnesota was missing their top two running backs.
